Jim Schlossnagle set to leave Texas A&M for Texas head coaching job

The rumors, indeed, have legs.

Jim Schlossnagle is set to be named the next head baseball coach at the University of Texas after three incredibly successful seasons at Texas A&M.

The news was first reported by Chip Brown of Horns247 and later confirmed by TexAgs' Billy Liucci and D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers.

A career-altering move by Schlossnagle comes less than 24 hours after his Aggies lost Game 3 of the Men's College World Series Finals on Monday night.

"I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M," he said postgame. "I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again, and that hasn't changed in my mind."

Obviously, something changed between then and Tuesday evening.

Schlossnagle, 53, was introduced to the 12th Man on June 10, 2021.

In three seasons in College Station, he took the Aggies to the Men's College World Series twice, reaching the final four both times and the championship series in 2024.

His A&M tenure controversially ends in infamy with a 135-62 record.

I'll eat my crow and boy, it does not taste good.

Wow. I don't think I'm bitter in the end, too old for that, but this sucks and there is no two ways around that either.

Appreciate his time here and hope tu baseball fails in the future. That will never change, no matter who is at the helm over there.

That's a pretty big distraction to be dealing with during the CWS and to have tu leak it Monday. He and tu screwed everyone.

If true, what a total D-Bag, that means he was indeed negotiating and talking to tu the whole CWS, his heart was never in it…the kids deserved the best out of their coach and they didn't get it

He just lost all credibility for his future career, when he gets let go by tu no major school will want him. He will be seen as a liar by both major ADs and recruits and I'm sure the Aggie players are not happy with him.

Maybe someday some of you will learn that this is a job for these guys.

They don't love the school, it's a paycheck.

And once and for all, coaches lie. There are so many examples of this over the years, and yet people keep thinking that these guys are telling you the truth.

Anyone who would do this, this way, is not somebody we should want. Sips deserve him and he will probably screw them over too at some point. Can't wait for them to get destroyed in the SEC.

I honestly feel some of his decisions cost us the Natty.

And now it makes sense why Coach Vitello didn't have a nice word to same about him in the presser. Thought he was being a sick, but he was on the right side of things.
