Yes, not even close. Home ump should have called it but he wanted no part of making that call.
I understand the FSU fan focus on that one particular ump call in the 9th, but when you had an 11-8 lead with 3 more outs to go (and an 11-7 lead with 6 more outs to go, and led 9-4 at the end of the 3rd and so forth) then a hell of a lot of other stuff happened once you got ahead that lost you that game.

But they also did enough to win. He made the pitch, he got the strike - and the swing. Shouldn't have to get 4 outs as punishment for struggling at the end against the #1 team in the country.

I really thought the check swing was borderline and could have seen it called either way.
That said, I think the check swing rules are really stupid and should be revised. Honestly I think like 80% of actual check swings should be strikes. If contact is made and the ball would be going into play, should be a strike imo.

I really don't see how that's 50/50, he went.
However, I'm mature enough to admit that I'm biased and that could color my opinion.

Where we were sitting we had a perfect view down the plane of the swings. Guy totally went around. Tennessee had a big presence in the stands and their fans were going crazy.

And I watched on tv where they had perfectly angled cameras with slow motion replays….
His bat was pretty much perfectly perpendicular to his body. Isn't the ncaa rule it has to go past the hip/front of home plate? It was literally right to that point. Again, I've seen that called both ways and we'll see it called both ways (at all levels of baseball) until they fix the dumb check swing rules.
I don't like Tennessee or FSU so I don't feel bad or happy for either of them. I hope they both get bounced but as a college baseball fan, I thought that was strike 3.

Kinda like the neighborhood play at 2nd base on a double play or a runner being in or out of the baseline. There are times it is called and everyone is suprised because it doesn't normally get called that way.
That's how I feel about this.

Yes, it's a wonderfully, imperfect, maddening game and my life won't change one iota with a win or loss. I might gripe a bit, but I've watched way too much baseball to know it all evens out, sucks but it does.
Let me say it another way. Not one team will win or lose this championship without being both the beneficiary or victim of human error. That's again, why I love this game.
