It also helps that Cline is a b**** to begin with. He's dreadful.

Alright, things have not surprisingly slowed. Waiting for the draft at this point. Would like to see our remaining portal pitchers come back, especially Morton. But Antolick and Bodin also. Develop, compete, see what we got at the end of fall.

My ultimate sleeper pick. 6'8", 230 lb lefty Austin Vargas. I know little about this guy but I'm sure Brauny does. Looked real promising after his junior year at Fulshear when he had like 114 K in about 50 IP. Did well in the post-season. Ag coaches offered him soon after watching him against Crosby. He was topping out at 91 as a junior (2022) with a nasty slider. Then it appears he was injured and missed senior season. Didn't play this year but he and Badman relegated Jace to small forward on this team.

Now, with a full year of recovery, filling out and getting back to progression, I'm hoping we hear from him this year/next season. Definite velo upside I would think. And you can't teach 6'8".

Any guess on what this is related to?

This person is based in Houston (based on tweets about the Hurricane) and has some connections with UH baseball. My guess is coach related? Hoping someone stole Elander or Cain away and it doesn't negatively impact us.

Their knowledge is almost completely portal focused. They get the official entered/withdrawal notices so I wouldn't expect it to be coaching churn

It supposedly leaves Vandy without a top tier pitcher and just upped the arms race between SEC schools for another specific pitcher. They had to spell it out on X to emphasize why it's a big deal.

MSU has done well in the portal (according to Kendall on the radio this morning)
Florida has been a disappointment. Involved with a couple portal big names and couldn't close (again from Kendall)
Sips are TBD. They have a few draft risks that if they return could really bolster their lineup and pitching staff. They haven't had any huge name portal adds but a couple of guys that could be really good for them (LSU pitcher, ASU 2B, JUCO pitcher)

We had a strong young core last season too. Guess we're just better than UF(and had fun sending the gators home in Omaha). Earley for the win baby.

I like this strategy to pick the best out of the west coast. We have Texas and west coast coaches, Texas is the closest state in the SEC to the west coast, the Pac 12 is dead, and these kids have to go somewhere to play elite baseball.
