I'll be cheering on our Aggie Softball team in Austin and following the baseball team via TexAgs.

Should be a fun night!

And thus why I posted earlier.

Need 1 vs Arky
Need 1 vs Florida (We won the series so +1)
Win the Bama series (There not a baseball school -1)
Then just need 1 vs Miss St. to get to 14

Trying to win when the season is on the line rarely works. Teams put too much pressure on themselves while the team they are playing has none. Funny how garbage teams when alot after they are eliminated.

Need 3 wins - somewhere - and I think we're over the bubble.

Hot take: this isn't a make or break game today.

The RPI needs report yesterday had us needing one win on the road to 'clinch' top 45 status, which (obviously) we got.

Real time RPI is 35, even with a loss to clanga that shouldn't drop below 39.

Surely some of the teams ahead of us will win their conference tournaments and clinch auto-bids.

I think we sneak in even with a loss today.

No SEC team with less than 14 wins has gotten in with an RPI above 31. A few 13 win teams have been left out with RPI's of 30 & 31. The committee would have to do something unprecedented for us to sneak in with a loss today. We NEED the win.

EDIT: That should really be 13-17 or worse has gotten in with an RPI above 31. We got in the 2013 tournament at 13-16 with an RPI of 34.

If we lose today we will need at least 3 wins in Hoover to make it

I come up with 39 locks for potential at large births of which the Aggies make the cut. The bubble comes down to me with Fullerton, Kansas State, USCw, Arizona State, UCSB, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Troy competing for the last 4-6 spots in regionals.

We are dealing with an NCAA selection committee. They will decide after they see how we do in the SEC tournament whether conference tournaments matter or don't matter. Or at least that seems to be how they operate.

If Texas is a host we are guaranteed to get in. NCAA ain't passing up that opportunity

I hate rivalries early in a postseason. Weird things happen in rivalry games

I can remember MANY years where Texas hosted a regional and we didn't go there, several recent years actually.

Come to think of it, other than 2018, when have we been sent to the Austin regional?

I'd love for that to be where we go. Texas is very beatable. And it's 15 miles away!

The Regionals both A&M / t.u. have been sent since the Aggies move to the SEC:
2013 - Corvallis (Oregon St.) / Missed Tourney
2014 - Houston (Rice) / Houston (Rice)
2015 - College Station / Dallas (Dallas Baptist)
2016 - College Station / Missed Tourney
2017 - Houston (U of H) / Long Beach (Long Beach St.)
2018 - Austin / Austin
2019 - Morgantown (West Virginia) / Missed Tourney
2020 - COVID
2021 - Missed Tourney / Austin
2022 - College Station / Austin

For the 10 years that we weren't in the same conference
The Ags are 1 /1 getting sent to Austin
1/2 both teams sent to the same regional
0/1 horns being sent to CS

I remember in 2015 that Texas thought they were coming here, but they were sent to DBU. They went 2 and out.

Childress' teams had a lot -- a lot - of problems against the horns...and a considerable amount of it was mental

Schloss has been a big improvement in this area

Yep. But he was pretty good against them from 2011 on ... 8-5 by my count. 0-3 in regionals tho.

MY BAD. You are correct.

We were 1-3 vs Texas in regionals under Childress, 1-2 in that Houston regional.

D1 Baseball now has us as a 3 seed in Austin. There would need to be a lot of spoilers to keep up out at this point.

If they have us as the 3 seed in the number 16 regional that means we are just missing the cut to be a 2 seed

I'd rather be a 3 seed at number 16 than a 2 seed at 3 or 4

Yep. We are not even on the "last 4 in" list.

I think we're in regardless of tomorrow. Tennessee would not be a bad loss at all.

That is not how it works. They have us as the 3 seed in Austin because we are geographically close to Austin, not because they think we are the top 3 seed.

there will be bid-stealing this year

mid-majors such as:

Indiana State
Dallas Baptist
Campbell
Connecticut
East Carolina
Northeastern

are in the field from (what should be) 1-bid leagues

D1 think our RPI and SOS puts us in one of the better three seeds two things to remember
That is just their well informed OPINION &
If a team is a definite 3 seed no chance of being a 2 seed that team is close to last 4 in territory

I would hope it's a mix of both. If I was the top overall seed and ended up with the best 2 and 3 seeds just because of proximity that would be crap

I'm feeling pretty comfortable about where we sit at now. Independent of winning a conference tournament, we'd get in over OU, Georgia, TCU, Missouri, Louisville, Virginia Tech, and Texas Tech quite comfortably. So I think upsets in other conferences for their auto-bids won't be as big of a factor for us.

Bold teams have clinched auto-bids.
