I went when they were still in the trailer over a year ago and it was terrible. BBQ was decent but service was awful. People go nuts about their bacon burnt ends but I thought they were awful. I don't like candied pork though so if you're into incredibly sugary bbq then you might like them.

I have been in the last year or so and thought it was tasty. It wasn't as special as a lot of folks in DFW make it out to be, I still think it is below Cattleack, Hutchins and a couple of others on the Dallas side, but definitely elite in the DFW metroplex.

Heim is one of my favorites in the Metroplex. Definitely worth a visit.

There ya go - looks like all is good in FranklinWorld. Still interesting that his top two employees left in such a short time period. I don't blame the podcast guys for putting the story out there, though their speculation ended up being wrong. Thought it was an interesting story with lots of circumstantial evidence pointing to a big change. Glad to see Franklin Barbecue will still be around.

I liken it to your OC and DC getting stolen away when you have a great football program.

Agree. I think anyone that's been with Franklin is quite valuable in the bbq market.

I see that now. Thought it was weird that they would air new episodes during the day. I set the DVR for the 8PM show, so we will see.

Hit up All the King's Men BBQ in downtown Bryan last night for dinner, very solid bbq especially for 7:00 at night. Brisket was good with a great bark and easily beat the last two dinner time offerings I've had from Fargos and the 50/50 chance of getting a decent cut at Kreuz in Bryan. Ribs were good as well, really simple on the rub but definitely not better than Fargos.

Had their three bean side which as the name implies has three different types of beans, brisket trimmings, sausage, and a few regular ingriedents like onion, etc. all mixed together, was really good with a ton of different flavors hitting you all at the same time.

A few good looking choices for dessert that I was too full for and a really big alcohol list with tons of whiskey and bourbon round out the experience. Overall I think it's well worth a stop and with the revitalization they have going on in downtown Bryan, it seems well positioned for the future.

We didn't get alcohol our our visit but we thought it was expensive relative to what you got. I think I slight shift in terms of price and or include one side and up the price a bit would work better for them

yea, from what I remember of looking at their menu, the brisket prices were higher than Franklins and Snows.

Just che Jed their website, their brisket is $23/lb. Pinkertons is pretty high on their stuff, but I think their brisket is $21/lb

It could be worse...

Pappa's Delta Blues in Webster charges $22.95/lb for lunch... and somehow, they charge $27.95/lb for the same brisket at dinner...

It's definitey a little high, but it was also pretty good. I got the three pigs sandwich, some brisket, burnt ends, and their Mac and Cheese. It was dang good, not necessarily classic BBQ, but really good.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I wasn't impressed with Tejas in Tomball but today's lunch was excellent. The carrot souffl was amazing as someone mentioned before.

Brisket was tender, good smoky flavor, seasoning on the bark was great, but I thought the bark hard too much of a "Wet" feel to it. Kinda like it was wrapped for awhile. All in all though, that was a damn good brisket. Their turkey is pretty good too.

My first experience with them also wasn't great - I'll have to try them again when I'm in the area.

We had the same opinion, felt a bit gouged for what we got. Brisket was really good though. Everything else for the price, I would pass on. We live in south CS, so not enough difference in the drive to steer us away from truth in brenham.

Are those per pound prices? Near as I can tell from their menu, that's the price for a brisket plate (with 2 sides)...do you get a pound of brisket with that?

I've been wanting to try that place but can't get over those prices.

You're right... That's a plate price. So probably 1/3#. On the "to go" menu they have brisket at $32.95/lb...
