you do realize they sell individual portions of sliced brisket, and not just huge portions, right?
They sell by the half lb. I prefer to order my brisket in the precise ration of **** loads. I was with my wife and had no idea what was good, and she wanted to split a brisket sammy. Happy wife=happy life.

I dig. I just know I'm into that hipster vibe more than a lot of y'all here and was just playing into that. I guarantee if there's a bourbon barrel strawberry shortcake imperial stout on the beer menu, it's going to be some good bbq.
Agreed! Actually, all the kings men was a cool setup inside. You could tell you were in Texas, if that makes any sense? I was able to keep my man card going there, other than ordering a **** sandwich. Guess I've turned into a grumpy old man, too busy complaining about skinny jeans and girly men.

So, I'm at Brick House brewery & bbq in marathon. Bbq is better than bad but overall disappointing. Y'all swill drinkers might like the beer.

I'm pretty underwhelmed but what're you gonna do

Late to the conversation on Feges, but I believe it is absolutely Top 50 worthy. Probably the best inside the loop. The pulled pork there is also unreal, and probably in my personal top 3 Texas pulled pork options (Along with Corkscrew and Franklin).

Speaking of inside the loop, recently I have been to a new place called Willow's Texas BBQ. Texas Monthly actually did a write up on it this week. It is fantastic and absolutely Top 50 quality. I ordered a three meat plate with brisket, ribs, and sausage. For sides I got the creamed corn and the marinated tomatoes. The brisket had a crunchy peppery bark and was still plenty moist, ribs were solid, and the sausage was a pepper jack and garlic link from Ruffino's. The sausage was good, but next time I will probably try the pulled pork since I heard good things about it. The creamed corn and tomatoes were both two of the best sides I've ever had in Texas BBQ, and did I mention that the entire three meat plate was only $18?!? The food truck is located in front of the Big Star Bar in The Heights, and is a great hidden gem. Here's a link to the Texas Monthly write up and a picture of my tray from about one month ago. Texas Monthly Write Up

I also went to The Pit Room last week, and whoever posted about losing their pitmaster to Loro in Austin, it makes sense. It was good, but nowhere near as good as it has been in the past. I would say borderline Top 50 based on my meal from last week.

If I was ranking joints inside the loop, I'd probably go:

1. Feges
2. Willow's
3. The Pit Room

Finally, it's outside the loop technically, but I don't know why Roegel's doesn't get more love on this board. I think it's excellent!

So ode asked where I would like to eat in DFW for Father's Day.

Have yet to hit CattleAck but not open on sunday.

What BBQ suggestions you folks have for DFW on a Sunday?

Pecan Lodge is fine. I actually like Lockhart (don't hate). But what else am I missing?

Just leaving there now for the first time. Brisket was good to great, ribs were ok. The complimentary peach cobbler and ice cream was awesome.

Trying out Willows right now. Currently waiting with a beer inside Big Star Bar. Will report back.

Got brisket, ribs, and sausage. It was all good, not great, but being that late in the day, no telling how long the meat had been sitting.

No they're not? At least not the Frisco location? Which I actually prefer over the McKinney one. My family goes there after church on Sundays all the time

Usually no more than 30 minutes. If you get there before the church rush at about 12:15, usually about 15 minutes. At least at the Frisco location

Went to Hutchins for a late lunch.

It was crowded and they were out of tons of stuff. But fortunately they were not out of brisket.

Brisket was very good. Great smoke flavor. Maybe slightly dry. But very good.

Sausage was better than expected.

Ribs looked great but they ran out before we got any.

Mac and cheese was exceptional.

can everyone post their version of the perfect La Bbq order before I go this weekend? I am not into trying everything when I go to a new place. I would rather just order a lot of what they do the best. So help me out.

I will be with Cdub but what does he really know anyways

Feges today. I thought all the meats were a bit dry, but the sides were all pretty great- glad I ordered the plates for us. Either way, definitely the best office building food court bbq there is. Oh, and the bark on that pork belly, tho.

Starting him early.
Turkey and sweet potato/banana mash were the high points for him.
The wife liked the pork belly and elote.

Went to Smoliks in Mathis today on my way back from Padre and it was pretty good. I wasn't a fan of the casing on the sausage but it was pretty good still. The brisket was moist and smoky. Bark wasn't quite intact but overall a great experience.
