Late to the conversation on Feges, but I believe it is absolutely Top 50 worthy. Probably the best inside the loop. The pulled pork there is also unreal, and probably in my personal top 3 Texas pulled pork options (Along with Corkscrew and Franklin).
Speaking of inside the loop, recently I have been to a new place called Willow's Texas BBQ. Texas Monthly actually did a write up on it this week. It is fantastic and absolutely Top 50 quality. I ordered a three meat plate with brisket, ribs, and sausage. For sides I got the creamed corn and the marinated tomatoes. The brisket had a crunchy peppery bark and was still plenty moist, ribs were solid, and the sausage was a pepper jack and garlic link from Ruffino's. The sausage was good, but next time I will probably try the pulled pork since I heard good things about it. The creamed corn and tomatoes were both two of the best sides I've ever had in Texas BBQ, and did I mention that the entire three meat plate was only $18?!? The food truck is located in front of the Big Star Bar in The Heights, and is a great hidden gem. Here's a link to the Texas Monthly write up and a picture of my tray from about one month ago.
Texas Monthly Write UpI also went to The Pit Room last week, and whoever posted about losing their pitmaster to Loro in Austin, it makes sense. It was good, but nowhere near as good as it has been in the past. I would say borderline Top 50 based on my meal from last week.
If I was ranking joints inside the loop, I'd probably go:
1. Feges
2. Willow's
3. The Pit Room
Finally, it's outside the loop technically, but I don't know why Roegel's doesn't get more love on this board. I think it's excellent!
