Anyone had any success with the $20 trick at MGM? Going next weekend.

Its 20 bucks, just go for it regardless. You have a 50/50 shot so those are some of the best odds in Vegas haha

Another $20 trick winner at bellagio here. We just got a room with view of fountains. But we're staying for 5 days.

Can someone point me in the right direction to find info on how to plan a bachelorette party in Vegas? I've seen the links on the first page for bachelor parties. Would those help me?

Honestly, I've not seen that topic discussed.

Start a new thread on it and I can link it back to the table of contents for anyone that has this question in the future.

Lily,

If you don't have a prior relationship with Caesars or MGM to take advantage of comps, call a property you are interested in staying at, tell them your intention to do a bachelorette party, and ask what their group rates are.

As for things you can do in Vegas, I'd recommend three things:

- do a casino crawl, where you go down at least one section of the Strip, into every casino, and get a drink and a #1 chip. It is a fun twist on the pub crawl.

- have a list of embarrassing things she needs to do that night, like serenade a random stranger, dance the lambada with a random guy, ask people to sign her shirt. Take lots of pictures.

-Get her some adult entertainment, like taking her to Thunder From Down Under or Chippendale's or something like that.

BTW, Oshea's is closing April 30 so they can begin working on the Linq project. If you are someone who liked going there, better get there again before the end of April.

For the $20 room upgrade, you just hand them a $20 and ask if they can find you a better room as you're checking in?

I usually throw a folded 20 in between my credit card and my driver's license. It has worked without asking although sometimes it won't.

twenty between the credit card for incidental fees and driver's license. "Do you have any complimentary upgrades available?"

I'll be checking into Aria tonight. I've already got a corner suit reserved so no telling if the 20 dollar trick will work. May ask while flashing a $50 since the next suites are much pricier. I'll report back.

Ended up getting bumped to a larger corner suite with a better view for 20 bucks at ARIA. Just asked if there was any upgrades available and said I would tip her if she could accommodate us. Worked out well.

$20 did the trick at Cosmopolitan two weeks ago to change to suite. Definitely worth the stay, very nice (we have been Venetian/Palazzo people for years, but will now make the switch I think).

Make SURE you do whatever it takes to get fountain view (Bellagio). Club (Marquee) there is the most popular one in town at the moment. Crazy busy.

Jaleo (Jose Andres' spanish tapas restaurant) is definitely one of the "must" eat places now in town and I've been to many of the high end places. (Not "cheap" per se, but really good and inventive food.)

mwesson, can you offer some more reasons on why the cosmo (especially relative to the venetian)?

trying to decide between caesar's, venetian, and cosmo (maybe adding aria, too). done venetian before and loved it...haven't done any of the others.

Cosmopolitan is the "it" place on the strip right now. Just a really cool vibe.

I was just at Cosmo this weekend. I now understand the hype. That place is unbelievable. It is unquestionably the hippest place in Vegas right now. Celebs go there a lot, and the amount of young, hip people there exceeds anywhere else in town. Marquee is the craziest club in town (and loudest).

Anyway, after going to Vegas several times, this was my first time at Cosmo, and like I said, I now understand the hype. It's hard to understand until you just spend a whole weekend there.

This weekend I met Von Miller and Dwight Freeney there. There was some big charity thing hosted by Warren Moon apparently so there were tons of NFL players around.

I stayed there a few years ago. Gave $20 trick to upgrade to a fountain view.

Surprisingly, the rooms are really nice. Pretty spacious, although the bathroom is a little small. It was nice to walk right off the strip and be in your room in 2 minutes. Location of course is great. Only issue for you would be the noise, you could hear the traffic from the street since it's only 4 stories up. Maybe if you asked for a room facing the Flamingo it would be better?

I was a fan of Bills when I stayed there in '10. I can pretty well echo what Texican said.

It's especially great for a guys trip. I'm not sure how excited women would be to have the honor to stay at Bill's.

Just booked for the 14th of Aug for 2 Nights at the Cosmo. AA had a great deal on miles so I ended up getting the 1 BR Suite with Fountain View. Going with my wife (for her birthday) for a quick escape while the kids are at my folks. Only been to Vegas a couple of times but always on business with little time to enjoy it.

I've been planning on playing craps. Do comps or any of that come in to play with a game like that and if so what kind of money do you need to be betting? I've never done one of the reward systems before in Vegas. It looks to be very slots driven.

Planning on the $20 sandwich and thinking of throwing a $50 and telling them it is her bday, is it likely to be worth it since I already have a nice room? Kind of hoping for some resort comps.

I heard Cosmo is pretty tough when it comes to comps. If you are looking to get comped on craps you would need to be betting a minimum of $25/roll, but to actually see anything worthwhile I would think that would be closer to $100/roll.

Cosmo is extremely skimpy on comps (not as bad a Venetian/Palazzo). If you're really concerned about comps I'd stick with Total Rewards or mLife.

Typically if you are wanting to get something comped on your trip (as opposed to getting comps for your return trip) you'll want to gamble at the casino where you are staying. Then you can charge food/drinks to your room and hope for them to be comped upon checkout. Going into the trip expecting comps probably isn't the best mindset though.

Thanks for the advice. I figure I won't worry about the comps. I'll take out one of the cards and make sure my wife uses it when she plays slots and see if we get lucky and get a free meal or something.

Any other thoughts for Mid Week fun around the Cosmo?

any recs for a restaurant with a private room for 20 guys? We are heading out there in November and plan on doing a nice dinner Sunday night. The thing is that we also want to watch the texans game so we would like a private room with a tv. Not sure if this even exists.
