Bradford officially starting the season on the IL. Question now is who gets his spot. Leiter or Rocker? Before spring training I would've said Rocker, but with Leiter's excellent spring I'd lean Leiter.

Helluva spring from Osuna. Kid looks primed to shoot up the prospect rankings and making Boch's decision extremely tuff.

No but he plays a pretty damn good OF. Don't really get the humor here when we have one of the deepest rotations in baseball.
I could be way off, but I don't think Bochy has a very difficult decision at all. At least not for the opening day roster as it relates to Osuna. The last thing I would want to see is Osuna get the 4th or 5th outfield spot with only 57 games at AA instead of continuing to play every day in AAA/AA.
Langford, Taveras and Garcia are on the roster. Pillar and/or Haggerty are as well. Carter is a wildcard because of his splits, but likely makes it as a platoon player.

I'm not saying he should. Barring catastrophe there's no way Osuna is making the big league team. But he's certainly played well enough this spring.
Absolutely he has. We might have another special one there.
These are the guys on OD roster IMHO. Josh Smith is a great asset as back up infield AND outfield, allowing you to only keep four regular outfielders.Flounder Dorfman said:

Mahle looks to be fine. He threw 55 pitches (42 strikes) in a minor league game yesterday.

Yep. Sounds like Rangers are just handling pitchers with kids gloves, which is smart. Especially when they're 8 deep with the rotation.
Yeah I am all on board with that. Especially with two dudes that are recovering from injuries.
It's a long season and I don't think any team in MLB will start fewer than eight guys. Probably more like ten. No reason to rush some guy just so he's on the roster for the first game. Especially if you have other options like the Rangers do.

I wonder if Nick Ahmed has any chance of making the team. He's known as a defensive utility guy (maybe only SS?) who has always struggled with the bat. But his OPS is over 1.100 this ST.
No idea who he would replace on the roster, maybe Duran. Just interesting that they brought him in seemingly to have a body, but all he's done is produce.

He's been an interesting one to watch. I agree that it was the definition of a JAG signing, particularly given the current roster construction. But with how Duran has looked, on top of how he played last year, there might be an open spot for him.

Crazy that Cease could be traded in two of the last two seasons. I'd be thrilled with him in our rotation!

From a YTTV perspective, RSNs and their equivalent are a losing proposition. Especially baseball. You'd do well to get 100k watching a rangers game in late June.

Yea slightly alarming. Didn't have many agree with me a few pages back but I still think he needs to play every day in the minor leagues and work on some things.. Send him there for a month or so and give Osuna the opportunity.

I would not have him as a part time player if he got the opportunity. There's no reason to make him one. I think it's a good opportunity to see what the kids got and perhaps ride a hot bat. Once it cools down you can send him back down and hopefully by then Carter has figured things out.

Acura had some success in ST but AFAIK has been mostly a late game substitution against lesser pitching.

No one is confusing anyone for Acuna….. not sure where that even came from lol. Osuna hit 8 more home runs in about 80 less ABs than Harris last season. He's also carrying a 1.333 OPS this spring. His pop looks to be just fine to me.
40 man roster is the problem re: Osuna. I don't think they're going to DFA someone just to let Osuna have a month at the MLB level and then send him down.
Smart thing to do would be to send both him and Carter to AAA - Carter to get more ABs against LHP, and for Osuna just to get more ABs period. Plenty of time to call them up later if they're tearing it up at AAA.

That's a good point. Going to be frustrating to watch if Leody and Pillar are hitting near the Mendoza line while Carter and/ or Osuna are tearing up AAA.
