It is a big gamble, but Bregman is very pragmatic and analytical. He pays attention to the little things.

His OPS splits based on AL ballparks?
1. Fenway: 1.240, 21G
2. CHW: 1.028, 17G
3. Rangers: 0.980, 31G
4. Kauffman: 0.928, 18G

9. MMP: 0.847, 554G

Neither CHW nor KCR are affering him $30-40M.

In Boston, he'll likely clobber the ball off the Green Monster and lead the AL in Doubles and OPS. He could be enough to get them into the playoffs. We'll see. His splits are what will be interesting.

Bregman has great numbers at Fenway. The ballpark you play in matters. It'll be interesting to see where they play him considering a lot of his value comes from playing great defense at 3rd. Overall good for the Rangers. The more core players that leave Houston the better for us.

I for one and glad to see Bregman and Tucker elsewhere. I'm not as worried about Paredes and whoever ends up taking Tucker's place. Christian Walker will be an upgrade over Abreu, but I would be an upgrade over Abreu.

Seriously, pretty light hitting outfield down there.

Mashing RH yes... I'm a bit curious what we do against LH. Carter and Pederson can't hit them (or in Carter's case, can't yet) and Taveras is worse against LH than RH. Randal Grichuk at $5M would have been a nice addition to that group. Josh Smith actually had reverse splits last year and maybe Duran is the guys to sub in there.

Agree and Burger struggles against lefties too for whatever reason.
May be this teams Achilles heel this season.

Was thinking about Smith this morning. Seems like he is penciled in as a utility guy again but if he hits like he did last year I could see him as basically the regular left fielder with Langford in center.

You are right about Burger last year, but for his career he's pretty even. Hopefully that flips back. Not that it totally matters but:

Astros 1 LHP (Framber who we've done well against)
Mariners 0 LHP
Angels 3 LHP
A's 2 LHP

Various sizes are available, but are limited in quantities. If you buy via the theme night link, you are guaranteed a jersey as long as you show up before the deadline.

Have an out-of-market TV question.

In the past, I've always subscribed to the MLB.TV package to watch the Rangers games...I just got my renewal notice, and it says the price is $129. My question is, can I get the RSN app and purchase/watch it from that instead? I believe the price is $99, which would save me 30 bucks. I just don't want to make that switch and then not be able to watch.

Not sure if anyone knows, but TIA

I think the same out of market blackouts would apply to the rangers deal that would normally apply to the MLB package. I have to watch games on local tv when we play the D Backs, can't get the Rangers broadcast from the MLB. Same applies for the Roku/AppleTV/ESPN games.

I could also be wrong lol, that just seems like it would be logical.

I thought MLB.tv was the opposite. If you were in the Rangers market you couldn't get the Rangers games on it.

The only blackouts for Rangers games that apply to me are when they are playing teams that are considered to be in my market. I live in the Nashville area...that means if the Rangers play on the road against the Braves, Reds, or (I think) Cardinals, I can't watch those games on MLBtv. All the other games, including the home games, I can watch.
I'm probably stuck paying the extra $30 for the "privilege" of being able to watch the Rangers. Not a big deal, I was just curious. FWIW the RSN App is not showing up on my Roku TV.

Yes that's right. I'm pretty sure rbtexan lives outside Texas, so if he purchased the Rangers app, then I would guess the local blackouts would apply to him when the Rangers play the team in his market.

Also I enjoy MLB Big Inning at times, and they will have the rangers game in one of the feeds if it is an AppleTV or Roku game, so I think it's worth it for that if you don't have one of those. I find myself watching it once or twice a week, so it's worth the $30 over the course of 5-6 months, in my opinion.

Not telling anyone how to live their lives, but the package for all teams, except your home team, is 149.99.

I watch a lot of baseball and love it because I almost always have another game on if the Rangers aren't playing.

His K's get all the pub, but I think the most fascinating stat about him is how awful he is at driving in runs, especially relative to his HRs. His HR to RBI ratio is just bonkers. The dude had a 21 HR, 40 RBI season 2 years ago lol. Rob Deer has historically been the comparison, and at this point they are within 20 career HRs of each other. But Deer drove in 150 more runs. That is 1/3 more than Gallo's career total.

The normal ratio across baseball is 4 RBIs per HR (about 5k HRs and 20k RBI in all of MLB per year). He's barely 2 to 1

The stat about sac flies was wild. I think Evan Carter had more sac flies in the 23 playoffs than Gallo had in his entire Rangers tenure. Something like that lol.

If memory serves me right, he had two sac fly RBIs in his career.

EDIT: Four. He only had one in his time as a Ranger. Has had one in each of the last three seasons.

Gallo is the Tony Mandarich of MLB. Looks like a guy who would be a perennial all-star but can't do it between the lines. Appreciate his time with the Rangers, glad he's gone
