They trade a bunch of Rule V guys for a guy and then want a MLB starting SS to return him?!gigem1223 said:
Sounds like the Yankees have called in on a possible trade for IKF.
One name that's been thrown out there is Gallo.
My thoughts exactly. Get the most value we can for him. Pitching is the big need and Gallo does not address that.wbt5845 said:
Who ever imagined a world where us trading away IKF for Gallo looked like such a bad deal for us?
MLB ready shortstops are rare. We happen to have two. We should ask for the moon and get it. Some starting pitching, for example.
I'm hoping we are engaged with Cincy. We have 3 roster spots that need to open. Now, we do have some guys to easily drop...wbt5845 said:

Another decent starter and a decent outfield bat could make this thing look a lot better. Calhoun helps, but our outfield was god awful outside of Garcia once gallo was traded. We need another decent outfielder.

They are shopping 2-3 SPs, in order of most cost to least cost:
Luis Castillo (28-RH) - 2 years of team control
Went 33GS, 3.98, 1.22WHIP, 187.2 IP, 192 SO
Career 3.72 ERA in 123 GS
Sonny Gray (32-RH) - 2 years of team control (includes team option for 2023)
Went 26 GS, 4.19 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 135.1 IP, 155 SO
Career 3.61 ERA in 214 GS
Tyler Mahle (27-RH) - 2 years of team control (Arbs)
Went 33 GS, 3.75 ERA, 1.233 WHIP 180.0 IP, 210 SO
Career 4.34 ERA in 94 GS
They could benefit from IKF at either SS or 3B. Willie Calhoun could fill a cheap role in LF or DH, if the DH is adopted by the NL in CBA. Young pitchers like Allard, Hearn, Burke, and King would give the Reds some players to consider...
I agree with you. If we can get him for some guys that have lost a position... someone like S Gray would bridge the season for some of the SPs that are close, but not there, yet.KT 90 said:
I don't remember the exact details. but we need to kick the tires on S. Gray. One of the off-season writeup's mentioned him, and I recall that he got shut down early last season with either shoulder or elbow issues. Then also that his innings have been decreasing the past few seasons. So at least a caution flag there, but maybe he is good to go still.
I wouldn't mind seeing us trade IKF and Willie C for something.KT 90 said:Grapesoda2525 said:

W. Calhoun just can't stay healthy. I hate that, as he worked hard to transform his body to be a better player, but he keeps getting hurt every year. I think C. Calhoun may be the end of Willie in Arlington ultimately. You only have so much room on the roster for short squatty LH hitters that are mostly a DH and a fillin outfielder.
Maybe they find room for both, but I see Willie getting included in a trade package somewhere.

Am I crazy for wanting to have IKF over Gallo?? He's a lot more versatile

Ragans comes to mind. If SGray lands on the DL/IR, you bring Ragans (23) up for a couple GS knowing he goes back down.
Others:Cole Winn (21-AAA), Jake Latz (25), Yerry Rodriguez (23), Hans Crouse (22), Alexy (23).
Yerry and Alexy are on the 40.
You are correct. I was thinking he was rumored to be included in a trade, but that it was someone else.alvtimes said:
pretty sure Hans Crouse was dealt.... I remember being pretty surprised because I thought he was gonna be a dude!

Remember when cutting the cord would save money? All of the streaming and a la carte offerings now is crazy expensive.wbt5845 said:
I have YTTV as well but switched to ATT for baseball season cause I'm a glutton for punishment. Have switched back.
Word was we were supposed to be able to buy Bally ala cate this coming season, but have yet to see anything official. The price they've floated is $23 a month, which is really steep as well.
