There were like 20 posts in the last two weeks in here before the Kawhi punishment and they were all memes about Chet being a weak *****.

I don't normally agree with Steven A. Smith...but he had a fantastic diatribe about it I saw this morning...gotta find the link
Stephen A. Smith completely CRASHED OUT on Kawhi Leonard, Kawhi’s Uncle, & the whole Clippers organization after they got FINED & stripped of 5 first round picks for illegal activities, & called Kawhi the WORST superstar in sports history 😳👀

I posted this in the general off-season thread, but the reasons are pretty simple:
1. the NBPA negotiated the punishment
2. Kawhi probably had plausible deniability - Uncle Dennis did everything.
3. Kawhi fired his agent/uncle and hired a new agent
4. A deal was already done for him to go to Toronto and the NBA doesn't want to penalize Toronto, who did nothing wrong
The NBPA could protest the punishment of Kahwi and drag this out more. Ballmer doesn't have a way to do that outside of filing a lawsuit.
CRAZY 👀: The NBA Approached Steve Ballmer And Let Him Know They Found Wrongdoing, And Tried To Get Him To Admit And Take The Punishment. He Denied It And Decided To Lawyer Up. Per, @PabloTorre

It's September 1st and unless I missed something:
- we still don't have a local broadcast channel
- we still don't have a play by play announcer
One down.A new way to watch Spurs basketball is coming 📺
— San Antonio Spurs (@spurs) September 2, 2026
Starting with the 2026-27 season, DAZN will be the new local, direct-to-fan streaming destination for Spurs basketball!
What's included:
✔️ All preseason games for free
✔️ All regular-season games not selected exclusively for… pic.twitter.com/e2iIY7a6QW
So I assume this is above and beyond my DirectTv sports subscription? If so, this really sucks.
Yeah, I think so. I don't know anything about them. But I'm in Houston and have NBA League pass for $109/season. League pass is outright cheaper than Dazn and I would expect it to be significantly better.
I have League Pass as well but I'm in San Antonio so Spurs games are blacked out. I would get them on the local channels or FSSW, which was part of the Direct TV basic sports package.
More Wemby effect, I guess. Spurs assume people will pay extra for this.
You were not getting games on FSSW the last three years. They went out of business. The regional games moved to Bally Sports for two years then FanDuel Sports last year. I think DirectTV included those channels but I know YouTubeTV did not. I do hope they eventually figure this out. It seems like they should just lift the local viewing restrictions from League Pass.

I think DAZN wants people for one year to check out their content, so I don't think they are going to be as expensive as Ballys/Fan Duel, at least if the Pacers deal is any indicator. It is only a 1 year deal that all these former FanDuel teams are making with DAZN because of the upcoming NBA deal. So this is what the Pacer deal is:
This year with DAZN, a monthly pass to watch the Pacers will still be $19.99, but full price for a season pass will go down to $119.99 and fans can get it at an early bird rate for half that -- $59.99 if they subscribe before Oct. 15. Also, season ticket holders will be given a complimentary season pass.
I see also they have an early bird option of $79.99 for those who share their subscription and want 2 IPs.
Now the Spurs may do something completely different, but I doubt it. Honestly, there is a reason why it could be less because they are on more National TV games and fewer DAZN games, but I would not expect that.
