It's September 1st and unless I missed something:
- we still don't have a local broadcast channel
- we still don't have a play by play announcer

So I assume this is above and beyond my DirectTv sports subscription? If so, this really sucks.

Yeah, I think so. I don't know anything about them. But I'm in Houston and have NBA League pass for $109/season. League pass is outright cheaper than Dazn and I would expect it to be significantly better.

I have League Pass as well but I'm in San Antonio so Spurs games are blacked out. I would get them on the local channels or FSSW, which was part of the Direct TV basic sports package.

More Wemby effect, I guess. Spurs assume people will pay extra for this.

See I just had to bring it up for us to get a resolution. What sucks is it seems they have protections in place to limit viewing to one internet connection. Last year I split FanDuel with a friend- we were limited to 2 screens but it didn't matter where. This year we will both need subscriptions….lame.

Hopefully this is just a one season solution and the NBA gets their wish of all nba local games on Amazon next year.

You were not getting games on FSSW the last three years. They went out of business. The regional games moved to Bally Sports for two years then FanDuel Sports last year. I think DirectTV included those channels but I know YouTubeTV did not. I do hope they eventually figure this out. It seems like they should just lift the local viewing restrictions from League Pass.

You're right, either way, the games were there.

Quote:

Per NBA: The Clippers shall forfeit five first-round draft picks, one in each of the 2029, 2030, 2031, 2032, and 2033 NBA Drafts.

Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is suspended from all league and team activities for one year for knowingly seeking to help Mr. Leonard obtain off-court income opportunities, for approving a business deal that he knew was a precondition for Aspiration to enter into an endorsement agreement with Mr. Leonard, and for his failure to create conditions under which his organization abided by the NBA's circumvention rules.

Clippers President of Business Operations Gillian Zucker is suspended without pay for one year for being primarily and directly culpable for the impermissible endorsement arrangements and for providing false and misleading statements to investigators.

Clippers President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank is suspended without pay for six months for his involvement with the impermissible endorsement arrangements and for approving impermissible expenses incurred by Mr. Leonard and his family.

The Clippers organization and personnel are subject to a compliance and monitoring program overseen by the league office for a period of five years.

This picks should be split between the Spurs and the Raptors since the Clippers were tampering with him dating back to 2017 before the zaza incident

The biggest punishment available was to avoid his contract, which I think they would have done if the Raptors had not already traded for him by agreement. I think leonards should have had a bigger punishment but I don't think the raptor should be punished other than having to pay $50 million for a broken down asshat

His agent probably got 5x that for all the side deals plus the actual contract.

Spurs v Raptors 1x per season gets to have the Clippers' pick.

So will there just be 1 less 1st round pick in those forfeited years?

Yeah. There won't be a 30th pick (or 32nd when they expand the league.)

It will be 1-31 in the first round then the 2nd round will start with 33.

While I don't feel for pros in general with what they make, that is kind of a screwy thing for a fringe 1st round pick that gets a guaranteed contact vs a 2nd rounder that isnt promised one.

The delta between max rookie deal for 2nd rounder and the last pick in the draft is about $6M over 4 years. The 2nd rounder can be wholly unguaranteed, while the 1st rounder gets the first two years (about 7M) guaranteed.

Yeah, it kind of sucks for that one guy.
