Wouldn't it be something if Atlanta's pick turns into a top 4, Chicago's turns into something between 11-14, and Charlotte's turns into 15-17 with the Spurs pick falling below 21.

I think Mitch has proven he's the guy. Love Pop but I don't think we have this same record of he calls the shots. Mitch is a lot more bold with his rotations and is willing to hang with lineups for longer if they do well. The Spurs have been behind for a lot of these games and come back to win, closing out well. It's time for change of the guard.

Edit: With significant injuries no less.

I agree Mitch has been great, but I think the circumstances make it hard to tell. I imagine he is getting more help behind the scenes than most head coaches and I also think CP3 has been a huge presence as almost a player-coach on the team.

That said, as much as I hate to say it, if there was ever a possibility for an eased transition from Pop this situation has probably provided the best opportunity for it.

I know it's Utah but damn that was a fun game to watch. Caught myself wishing there was a most improved rookie type award to measure the growth of a rookie throughout the season because Stephon Castle is gonna be a problem for teams this year.

There was some speculation about Sheppard actually being the top choice of the Spurs. Don't know if there was any truth to that but it's clear that Steph's size and two way impact is not something Reed could ever match. Castle may or may not get the ROY, particularly because he will get less touches when we are fully healthy but I really think he will be the best player in the draft when it's all said and done (assuming he improves his shot, which with his work ethic, he will.)

That bio on Mitch in the last week or so (on The Athletic? Not sure, might be linked upthread) was enlightening. All I needed to see was "Stanford point guard" and i thought "yeah, I could see why Pop would want him on the staff." I'm impressed with his coaching.

Also is it too soon to say Castle's our long term #2 running mate for Wemby?

Thanks. I stand corrected. Looking at the box, Ed Malloy was the laker loving donkey of a ref tonight. Has sat on the leaderboard for most missed calls in last two minutes each of last two seasons. Perfect ref to send to SA tonight
