That was in a Rockets Fan Season Thread. Staff made it clear plenty of times.

This thread is fair game, and I doubt staff will assert authority in here unless you post something a little over the top.

He still won't get over that.

Life long Rox fan man. But if they can't make free throws and D12 doesn't show up this series is a straight toss up.

I think Brewer and Parson's health are some big x-factors in this series. Whatever jokes you might have, Parson's has been big for us this year.

Parson's is solid. He's a talented guy. He fit our team great. However he is VERY overpaid and his defense has gotten worse each year.

Overpaid from what Houston should have paid him this year by exercising that contract clause...

It was part of the Dwight deal.

He was going to make 1-2 mil this year, right?

Something along those lines.

So, the lineup should have been Howard, Jones, Parsons, Harden and Beverley. Brilliant move!

No. There was a "deal" in place that the Rockets would let Chandler out of his contract early in order to get Dwight. The plan was always to resign Chandler because no one expected him to get the kind of stupid offer he did.

Mavs fan here. Happy with the matchup. Harden has always been one of my favorite players but I think he is asked to do to much on offense. I think the Chandler and Howard matchup will be awesome. With that said Dirk is about to rewind the clock and show why this team was made for the playoffs. I'd about Rondo but he's a big game player too. Mavs in 6

Not exactly right. Most people expected Parsons to make 10-12MM on the open market. Because he was restricted, Cuban had to offer a little more than that to make it tough to sign, so he did 15MM.

Morey thought he would have a better chance of keeping Parsons if he was restricted than if he was unrestricted, which he would be after his 4th season. But when Morey struck out on the big names like Bosh, he decided not to keep Parsons so that he could keep some flexibility for upcoming seasons to go after a third star again. This kind of pissed off Parsons because he thought he was that third star. Morey then signed Ariza to a 4y deal, where he gets paid a little less each season to help with future cap flexibility. The Rockets could have some cap flexibility if they move Papa and Brewer this offseason or they could easily make room for a max player next season. However, Bev needs to get paid after this season, Brewer, TJones, and DMo after next season.

The offer he got wasn't all that unreasonable compared to where most people projected that he deserved. Most of the time when a player is bid on in restricted free agency, they are offered a little more money than they are projected to make.

That wasn't stupid and unreasonable, as you said. It was enough to make Morey think long and hard about it and ultimately decline it.

3.7-5.7 million more per year seems unreasonable to me when you set the range at 10-12.

That was a crazy summer. It started when we thought we'd have a super team in Houston but than Bosh resigned with Miami. A little later it was made official that we lost Parsons. The Rockets pretty much traded parsons, Asik, and Lin for Araiza.

As it played out, it was more like Lin, Asik, Parsons, and a late pick for Ariza, Dorsey, Smoove, Brewer, and slightly less late pick.

Ultimately Houston had a better season without Dwight for most of it. Last year I don't think we would have been able to weather the storm like we did this year.

Well looking back to Asik and Lin's RFA deals, you said those were unreasonable.

Lin was never worth that Much. That's pretty proven. Asik is worth 8mm in the right situation. He was a pouty crybaby after Howard signed and want worth that anymore. He still can't play big minutes and be effective

But sure that's the best example.

Uh they were overpaid, but parsons is just as overpaid probably more so than Asik.

A good defensive stopper center like asik is worth 8mm if you can put him in the right situation. In a bad situation, he is worth half that. Next to the unibrow is a great situation for him and I think he is worth about 8/year.

He has proven it now, but at the time the sample size was tiny and he was great once he got an opportunity (in NY). It was a calculated risk for a team with no good players.
