I don't know, I'm frustrated. At least we made subs around 60', and the Baleba one especially helped a lot. And until he got thrown in the net by freaking Dominic Solanke I wasn't thinking that Martinez was playing bad. And I don't agree that we were parking the bus, we lost possession and they capitalized… but….

I mean, WTF, how in the heck do we keep doing this up a man? This is un-freaking-believable… (and Everton last year I think was under Amorim; for some reason this is just apparently who we are… should opposing teams just pick some bench player to start and tell him, "OK at kickoff, just run over, kick Bruno in the nuts, and get sent off… that will put us right where we want them"?)

I think it was Santos with the giveaway that led to that goal? I don't know, I missed the loss of possession. What was so striking is the defenders didn't really do anything egregiously wrong after the giveaway. Atleti just made the right runs and the right passes at the right time. Something we can't seem to do in any offensive situation.

I don't think he's wrong but also...

Kind of hard to blame it entirely on Wilcox given that the team looked poor from game 1. You can say that they should have strengthened more during the off-season, but it's hard to claim that the talent level was worse on September 1st than it was on June 1st. And yet this team still managed to look bad against Hull, large parts of the game against Ipswich, and pretty much every game this season with the exception of the mighty Sabah FC. That's not on Wilcox.

And then I am watching Dalot run 5 yards behind the wing he is supposed to be guarding….

It's also a little harsh if we are honest because it's not like the Director of Football gets to set the budget amount; presumably, that's coming down from above him.

I guess I'm just happy that I can at least see how we are hoping signings will work out. I can still remember reading at the time of the Antony signing about how we stretched above our valuation to get Antony because we didn't see any promising right wing players as prospects in the world. I remember thinking, "Really? The world has created this undersized right winger, and that's just as good as it's going to get; we can't see anyone else getting good at right wing?" I can at least see why we are buying the players we get now.

(Edit: in fairness, I think everyone knew the real reason was we lost to Brighton and Brentford to start the year and panicked; but nevertheless, the club did try to sell this "no good right wings coming up" narrative.)
