Yes. There is a max number of coaches. If Spurrier was a consultant he couldn't call plays and I'm not sure to what extent he could game plan.

If it were a HC job of agree with you. As a OC though I think it's a no brainer. Instant creditability and would be great for recruiting too.

But.. I don't believe Rojo and think all the Spurrier chatter is hilarious

I agree about the Spurrier talk. It's beyond the pale, seemingly. (Of course, I never dreamed Chavis would leave LSU while Miles was there. Who knew?)

Spurrier and Sumlin are good friends and hang out together at coaching association meetings and other media events.

It is just coincidence, I'm sure, but Sumlin said the other day that he first heard Spurrier had stepped down from AD Hyman. Just something that made me go, "Hmmm." I wasn't aware that Hyman was that tight with Sumlin and it could have just been a scheduled meeting where the small-talk started with the news of the moment in an off-hand manner.

OTOH, Spurrier might have been the subject of other discussions and "wish lists" and it was a joke.

Sumlin: "Not sure what I want to do about Jake Spavital, yet."

Hyman: "Spurrier stepped down as HC of South Carolina today. He's available," wink, wink.

Sumlin: "Very funny, Eric." <sigh>

Spurrier should retire to Hawaii, by which I mean he should take some kind of OC or consultant job at the University of Hawaii. He'd still get to indulge his passion for football, but there would be basically no expectations so he'd be playing with house money, and he could spend a ton of time playing golf on world-renowned courses and generally being another happy old haole running out the clock in paradise.

So is this unsubstantiated prediction a November announcement or later in 2015 or 2016? I use the word unsubstantiated in regards to single source versus Orwell's "willing suspension of disbelief".

On another note, this forum (and this thread in particular) have satisfied my desire for reality TV this week ...
