Frustrated every time I read this thread. Being surrounded by bright students(and the competition) is what makes a university great. Standards and expectations need to be raised.

Top 10% receive automatic admission but we are admitting more students today that are not in the top 10% . Students with grades that would not have made it 3 years ago are now being admitted with no restrictions. Even those students that are being turned down are now being sent to Blinn and most are receiving automatic admission after 2 years of course work. This has been a boom to Blinn as now they are building a new campus off the loop in College Station.
However, I do think we need to raise the entrance requirements to control enrollment. This sounds like idiocy.
We have an administration obsessed with size right now. They equate it with success. Look how much we bragged when we busted enrollment numbers in the fall. It's all about quantity and not quality with this administration.
I guess we will see next fall if President Young agrees with this route. Remember he hinted at capping enrollment and a regent publicly questioned it in the media when he first got here.

IIRC UT-Dallas and 6 other Texas colleges have higher average SAT scores than A&M now. Not kidding.
Perhaps it's time to jettison Sharp and reverse his damaging policies. Speak up,Ags!

What it actually means is that the average score is lower.
The causes of that are what is debatable.

We used to be better than all SEC schools sans Vanderbilt. That's no longer true.

A&M has become a diploma mill. I have friends with kids that attend A&M that wouldn't have been admitted when I attended A&M.

I see nothing wrong with this, we will eventually be the largest school in the state!!! Also, we are getting the satellite campus in McAllen, which will also give Aggie rings, our brand is about to explode(in a good way)!!

Besides, the department is now taking money from Chevron to create corporate branded extensions of the main campus program. With money changing hands like that I seriously doubt that Dean Banks would care about what the students or faculty have to say anymore anyway.
Doesn't this thread need to be on the Diploma Mill board?
Kathy Banks is making it hard to attract top faculty. I imagine they don't want to teach at community colleges.
Cant put 80,000 students in thr stand. If you lose a bunch of games, less than half will still want to come. Seems reasonable to me.
