I remember when the Deluxe was closing the owner told me that they had tripled her rent. I get the idea that it's very difficult for a restaurant without a liquor license to make it on Northgate.
On the other hand, that building has sat empty for about five years, so maybe they would be flexible on the rent. After all, this is all that is standing between us and the SEC!

A little annoyed by this thread because I am currently in the process of franchising a Waffle House in B/CS. Guaranteed money maker and now I may have competition. NOT KIDDING.
Not only might you have more than one Waffle House - you'll find Huddle Houses all over SEC country too.

Are you really in the process of franchising a Waffle House in College Station? I was confused by that because my conversation with the corporate folks at WH indicated that they were not taking on new franchisees or opening new locations for a minimum of 2 years.

It was a Kettle on University in the 80's. Invested in the $0.50 bottomless cup of coffee there during a few all night cram sessions. Also, I took a souvenir menu from a Waffle House from a trip to the Alabama game in '85.
What's great is that I don't have to change my user name for Waffle House. They're 24 hours delicious.
If any of you know rugbyman93, get him back on this thread for updates on his franchise and if he was serious in his comments. This should be a major focus. I have unsuccessfully interwebs stalked him. Make this happen...
We should start having waffles sent to Ken Starr's office on Monday morning and not let up. Anyone with a Waco Waffle House hookup? Surely we have an A&M club up there.

There are also Huddle Houses in the Southeast. They're just like Waffle House and a lot better than the Kettle. (There aren't any Kettles in the SE, that I'm aware of).

There seemed to be many a Waffle House that opened up in the Biloxi-Gulfport MS area after Katrina. Perhaps you could convince one to relocate to CS. How many pickup trucks does it take to relocate a Waffle House? If they won't legalize gambling in TX, then each time we go to Biloxi we can all bring a little bit of a Waffle House back with us. Just an idea.
Watching the psu - bama game. Just saw that psu has a nice little diner that serves delicious looking waffles. I immediately became angry and am craving a waffle.

While I cannot dispute the need for WH in B/CS, I have to say the The Kettle on Texas or the old one on University (maybe closed now) was AWESOME at 4 AM. Waffles? No says I. Chicken fried steak and eggs at 4 AM rocks the sox off.
One of my best buds knows my affinity for the Waffle Houses.... This was the BEST birthday present surprise imaginable...
