That inside ball called a strike on Abreu was an absolute killer.

Abreu had to swing at every inside ball after that.

I view the Abreu signing as a Jerry Jones type situation. Owner thinks he's a baseball guy, dumps the GM (who was pretty damn good- he got Dubon and Diaz in trades and gave up the equivalent of a bag of beans to get them) and thinks he can get by without a GM. Makes some pretty horrible signings (Abreu, Montero) and sets the team up to struggle. The complexion of this entire season was changed by the lack of a GM during the off-season. The crash back to reality this season was self-inflicted by the owner trying to play GM.

I know hindsight is 50/50, and most baseball media-types liked the Abreu signing at the time, but not locking up Tucker, and giving Montero the contract that he did were some glaring holes in the offseason.

Road Field advantage is what we are trying to secure.

And even if it weren't, beggars can't be choosers. Even making the playoffs is pretty dicey if we don't win 2/3 in Arizona.
