Overall that is the worst lineup in years.

Ever since there was major turnover in leadership in the past few years the Rodeo has reallydeclined.CHANGED

Lizzo would also make sense. Bet we see Beyonc/Drake/Lizzo as one of the 3 names left.
Not even sure which EDM name would get people excited...Calvin Harris, Diplo, Davis Guetta, Zedd?
I would like Clint Black instead of Willie and stop having Brad Paisley on the last Saturday.Cstrickland05 said:Shife said:

I have been to all of release parties since rodeo started doing them and last night was very blah. All the talk was of the leak and how it takes away from the party. I have a theory that it has come from a certain committee that gets the line up in December.
I disagree, my phone started blowing up when the line up was officially released.Chewy said:Ferris Wheel Allstar said:

Most people don't give two shakes about the release party. If anything the "leaked" lineup creates more interest. People are more likely to look at a "leaked" lineup because they're not supposed to. If it was a regular release people would just look at it when they get a chance. As it is when they see it or hear about it being "leaked" their ears perk up.
Rodeo has turned into a government entity. It has so much momentum it takes a lot to get its direction changed. It has some really great leadership and has some really "meh" leadership.
In the end it serves the general public really well. As big as it is it'll never be perfect. It still does a whole lot of good despite whatever perceived shortcomings there may be.

Yeah, the vast majority of people don't give two sh/ts about Rodeo and the inner workings, but this guy lives for it every year and thinks everyone should find it as important as he does.
that's fair. My circle is definitely not the general public, so my viewpoint is skewed.Chewy said:
You're actively involved in Rodeo though and I'm guessing those texting are actively involved or wanting tickets to certain shows.
My point was the general public that makes up the large majority of attendance doesn't care as much as some people think.
A lot of the parties are for the committees and staff. The general public doesn't care and just wants to see the lineup. I get creating some hype and interest but I think the "leaked" lineup creates more general interest. I have no clue if it's intentional or not or if it's just an internal power struggle. I think "leaking" it creates way more interest than any party/social media feed could. At some point the "leak" will become stale but for now I think it creates an increased level of interest to Joe Q Public who doesn't pay a lot of attention to Rodeo until it's actually going on.
He'd put more in the seats than Midland will, wouldn't he? I've got a kid that listens to country radio and I've never heard of them.Cstrickland05 said:Ferris Wheel Allstar said:I would like Clint Black instead of Willie and stop having Brad Paisley on the last Saturday.Cstrickland05 said:Shife said:

I agree that Clint Black would have been good, but he is playing Indian casinos and crawfish festivals right now, don't think he could put as many butts in the seats as the rodeo would want.

Holy sheet. I just realized Midland is going to be playing Schroeder Hall one night and NRG the next. That's crazy as hell.
Schroeder Hall is in the middle of nowhere. It's at least a beer from Goliad and two beers from Victoria.

I love these suburb cowboy rodeo threads.
I hope all you volunteers have the cavendars sale dates already marked on your calendars.
In no relation to the thread anybody have the numbers on the percentage of rodeo volunteers who drive a king ranch that only sees a dirt road less the 5 times a year? 97%?
No. They're second act after TUBAustinCountyAg said:

Pretty meh...It's getting to be a wash, rinse, repeat really.
Why do I even fill that survey at the end of each rodeo?
