was just explaining to my wife, i like shiner wild hare, and all the blue moon seasonals.. they are macrobreweries who are experimenting craft brew styles, but they make them accessible, or toned down if you will. Shiner doesn't want to put out some bitter hop bomb; they want something a shiner bock drinker will pick up on name recognition and still hopefully enjoy. Sometimes I want a particular style of beer, but so many american breweries just do everything bigger and better and overdo it sometimes. It's nice to have just a subtle example of a particular style. Wild hare is like this, and as I mentioned the blue moon seasonals (I got a mix pack with them all).
but then sometimes I want a big f-in beer! So I had a few of these tonight.
Weighs in at 11%. According to label, first brewpub in california, in 1983. Not in a big city either, 100 miles north of san fran. Some good things are created outside the big city limits
