Snowing as hard as it has all day in Carrollton now.

Maybe 2-3 inches on the ground currently.

We appear to be done in Benbrook. A nice morning/midday blanket, washed away by afternoon and evening rains, then covered with another blanket of snow when the sun went down.

Any road reports this AM? Wife is supposed to drive to South FW at 9:30am. Wondering if it will still be pretty icy.

75 from McKinney to Dallas is pretty much 4 lanes wide open. No real build up at all. Just idiot drivers going either 15 mph or 70 mph

Got maybe 1" of snow on ground here in Lakewood all said and done. Roads are completely fine.

My point exactly. Hell I got to work faster today than I usually do because of traffic.

A little over eight inches total here in Prosper. Love it.

And starting to look like we get to do this again the week of the 19th.

I'd cancel then. Let them know models are showing that week should be shut down.

Better just cancel school now.

Don't want kids to be cold.

Little saltiness this morning eh?

Rest of today - we are going to maybe get a light dusting of snow to finish off this morning. Skies start clearing and melting things this afternoon. Hard freeze down to 20, maybe lower, tonight. Everything wet freezes, and they are talking about black ice on the roads overnight and into the morning. Warm up gradually over the weekend and should be a nice week next week.

Very early but something to watch is the next big system starting the 19th or thereabouts. Those pesky models that the locals don't use but that hit on the event yesterday / overnight are showing us dropping below freezing the night of the 19th and not getting back above freezing until the 24th! Very preliminary, but just mentioning it because a week below freezing is a different ball game for all of us.

It's more that this is pretty far out. I mean it's January in dfw. There is a 10-20% you are right without running models.

For instance. The week of May 19th the models are showing potential for a line of severe weather. Like no ***** I'm about 20% right.

Ten days out showing a week of below freezing has an equivalent model of Jimmy Buffett sitting on the sandy beaches of Joe Pool lake.

Yeah I hear ya. Models were signaling the 19th a week ago so it's been there for a while.

Not going to worry about it until Thursday, but just mentioning for anyone for awareness. Yesterday caught several in my neighborhood by surprise. Just sharing what I can.

It's actually snowing here in Lakewood right now. Small flakes but pretty steady.

Thats the equivalent of a zombie apocalypse if Buffet is in play. Going to need more TP.

Well, report from this morning at my house: I expected very little, and the 'event' as experienced in my neighborhood fell just a bit short of those modest expectations. I got a little rain/sleet yesterday (even less than I expected). Then, last night - around 9 - it started snowing very lightly. This morning, I measured between 0.5" and 1.2" in various places of my property. No more than 1.2" anywhere. This is in line with my expectation of between 1 and 2 inches accumulation overnight.

So, while this was a bigger event for some folks in the DFW area, it most definitely transpired - in my area - as I predicted based on historical precedent. This is yet another data point in support of my predisposition to take forecasts of "big winter storm event" with a huge grain of salt as related to my location in the Metroplex.

Everyone stay safe/warm for the next day until temps return to the 50s!

Thanks for the heads up. POW is starting to mention it too

We ended up with about 3" of snow here. It was a blast for the kids (and me too who had this week off)

Man I don't like the idea of being away from the house for a few days while its stuck below freezing.

I'll be doing my civic duty this afternoon and cutting a little trench to the storm drain on our culdesac. The snow looks pretty, but underneath there is a ton of water that's just going to freeze.

Cut the water. Drain the pipes. Relieve the pressure on the water heater. Turn it off. Takes about 15 minutes. Or leave the heat on and drip the pipes.
