Looks like a Florida scarlet snake (as opposed to scarlet kingsnake) to me. The orange head ring is a good diagnostic.

Dang! Your IDs are incredible. I didn't even know that was a species.

Here's another picture where you can see the orange head ring. Bravo, sir.

On my run heard then saw a PBWS by a pond, started rattling its tails on the leaves for a good 30 seconds, first time a water snake has ever done that around me.

Saw a 18+ inch dekays brown snake, easily the longest one I have ever seen in my life. Had to do a double take to confirm it was not a garter snake or something similar.

You sure it was a dekays brown and not a juvenile YB racer? They can look similar before the racer goes through its color/pattern transition.

Found a 2ft shed out by the shop that will be Monday's show and tell for my daughter. 1.5-2" diameter. Any chance at an ID? Only snakes we've ever seen here are mostly copperheads, occasional water snake (tons of frogs this year), and what I believe was a rough earth snake. Cooke county

Kid almost stepped on a coral snake when he was chasing after an armadillo last week, then his brother almost stepped on a copperhead while blood trailing his deer the next day. Two close calls. You could barely see any red on the top of the coral snake , but it looked normal on the belly. I blame this evolution on all the pigs!

Also shot an overconfident diamondback water snake that had a big mudcat by the head. Twofer on worthless creatures.

Good point this little guy is pretty textbook demonstration of cottonmouth vs copperhead as far as pattern goes

Been seeing this big female soft shell on walks, pictures don't do it justice, around 2ft shell diameter.

Saw what was probably a juvenile diamondback water snake, I say probably since it was more brown than I have ever seen a water snake around here and it had a very similar pattern to the above moccasin. Too small and far away to positively ID it but since I have seen several hundred snakes around here with no moccasins I am going to lean towards a water snake. Didn't see the yellowish on its tail

I might call this one blotched, but it's a matter of opinion really. N. Erythrogaster.

Black coachwhip?
It's a coachwhip. Coloration can vary from black like this in the eastern part of the state to red in the western part.

There is no stopping her. These young ones are very non-aggressive and they rarely stand a chance. If her collar had been on, we maybe could have snake trained her on this one.

Striking color…
Edit to add the top photo was where he was before being disturbed. Full grass pasture 20 yards away and he was camouflaged in a small patch of grass on a sand road.
