Had a coral snake in my garage in San Antonio a few months ago. Had a camera handy, so I filmed the capture and release.

That stinks… hard to not feel bad for the guy if it was an accident like this. If he was free handling the snake I would still feel bad but not nearly as much. Glad he seems to be fine now but I'd bet his medical bills are over $500k based on the vial use and helicopter flight.

He is a compulsive free handler and honestly had it coming. More than likely he was handling the snake (might be an honest mistake and he didn't see it). Either way his past actions should persuade one not to donate.

I had a buddy that got bitten in his pinky finger earlier in his career freehanding a wild snake, because he felt sorry for it because it had reptile mites all over it. He of course learned that and paid a price for it.
