Was out palpating cattle and went to trough in pens to wash up for lunch. One crawled out between my feet. Scared carp out of me, until I realized what it was. Big snake maybe 7', hung around compound and pens for years.

Mine too. Any snake that eats rattlers for dinner is a good one. And that one is a big one.

Eastern milksnake. Up in that part of the world they are drab and blotched like that.
I wasn't the one who killed the poor thing, btw. My gf's dumbass contractors thought it was a timber rattler. She just sent me the pic.

Well, did you see the lady in Louisiana a few days ago who thought a baby timber that had no rattles (yet was clearly a juvie timber) was a juvie rat snake and got popped while handling it?

Friend of mine had a large rattlesnake in his yard last week. Animal control came and got it. But evidently it had laid a nest because now he has a few small ones running around. Any tips on getting rid of a nest of babies? I'd be scared to let my pets or kids out of the house until they're definitely gone.

The first snake is a Western Hognose. It's not a rattlesnake.
First pic, the hognose, is pretty tiny as well, but yeah that second is a nope nope rattle rope

Well that's good to know! I admit I didn't look that close, just took him at his word that it was a young rattler.

That's a really odd place for a Western Hognose. They usually aren't near residential areas. I guess this is the exception. I've never seen a Western in the wild; I've kept several for pets.
And, he can remove the hognose easily. They might hiss and spread their neck; possibly play dead or musk, but they are completely harmless.

Jim Cantore from the weather channel had a snake crawl up in his engine. He said he was told it was a Copperhead/Rattlesnake hybrid and he was also told when 2 different species of venomous snakes breed then the offspring isn't venomous.
That doesn't sound right… But?

Saw the same water snake twice walking the dog today. Dang dog doesn't even care if it sees a snake or had fronts jump on it. Just ignores everything
