In my tailgate induced beer stupor I overlooked that important detail of your post. The lack of O and D at the game sobered me up tho. Helluva fishing trip. Congrats.

Yessir! Been looking for a while and finally found a decent deal on a gheenoe without having to drive to Florida. 98 Gheenoe Classic with a 25 Mercury. Sorry, I don't think I can post pictures yet since I haven't posted enough.
Thanks to Salt of the water for some advice and walking me through the process. He's a good dude.
Motor needs some tinkering with but overall everything looks to be in good enough shape. Fingers crossed google and youtube can teach me enough to get everything up and running smooth. I've got a lot to learn but can't wait to get it out on the water after some reds!

I must admit, I'm a little jealous. The classic is 10 inches wider and 2.5 ft longer than my 13. It opens up options like poling platforms and not having to ask everyone you take how much they weigh.
Here it is:

That dude's photo dump of 2016 pics on the Drake forums is pretty epic.
If I had a spare yam 40 2 stroke it would be in El Lago now...Salt of the water said:
Somebody buy this thing before it gets hauled back to Florida.

Not mine, just a pretty rare boat to see for sale in TX.

I figured this is the best place to ask for advice. What do y'all think of the Ankona Shadowcast? I don't want a high dollar boat like a Hell's Bay (although badass), and Ankona boats seem to fit the mold and seem to get good reviews from what I've seen so far. We do our fishing from kayaks right now and I'm looking to adding a boat to the stable.

Yeah the BT micro caught my eye as well. I'm open to used, but it's really tempting seeing the Shadowcast 18 with side console, piling platform, and trailer for ~$15k.

It'll be used for waterfowl occasionally yes. We fish primarily east matagorda but fish Galveston all the way down to the lower Laguna. No more than 3 people at once and will mainly fish 1-2 people. It might be used to mothership the kayaks, but not super often. No I have never ridden or driven a poling skiff. Only shoalwater and similar boats. Fishing primarily shallow waters and sight casting.

Thanks for all the insight. I see people that buy one and load them down with all kinds of **** and don't quite understand that.
Hey Birdhunter: I am here for you dude...BirdhunterAg13 said:
The more I see the beavertail, the better it looks at the price. Does the side console add a significant value to them?
