Tried and tried to get into this but eventually gave up. It was just too tedious and slow early on.

I've loved almost every previous Zelda game. I played Link's Awakening on Switch; it was great. Maybe I just don't have the time to devote these days.

I was the same way with BoTW until I had a week where I could play fairly consistently. I still hate some of the mechanics, but it was a fun game.

Really enjoying replaying majoras mask!

At least I get to hear if it is good or not before the date. Gives me time to cancel.

I played some on my lunch break and I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time. It's incredibly fun. I can't wait to play with my wife and kiddo.

I stand corrected. Digital is 22.49. I'll probably pick this up at this price point since 4 player local Co op games seem to be so rare nowadays.

I only have three games, Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Lego Harry Potter. I'm just starting Prisoner of Azkaban, and it's getting a bit repetitive. Should I stay the course?

Then BOTW is not the answer.

BOTW for sure for something Switch exclusive. It has a ton of side quests, so it's not good for what you're looking for at this time, but it's still a must play when you have time.

I'd also throw in Final Fantasy 7-10 since those are available on the eShop if you haven't played through those. 8 is my personal favorite but also seems to be the most polarizing of the group. 7 is widely accepted as the best one.

BOTW is probably the 2nd greatest game I've ever played, though.

Yeah I'll have to work my way up to BOTW. The most recent release I've really played was Wind Waker, and I've played through the original a couple times on my old NES console.

I don't understand all this "side quest" talk.

Breath of the wild literally has one questline. The "Side Quests" are few and far between, and they aren't really much to get involved with. This is not Skyrim or another open world game where there are multiple towns, and each town has 20 quests to pick up. Most side quests are just hints for where to find Shrines. Each shrine has 1-3 puzzles in them.

The other Side Quests are just little stupid things like catch 5 lizards in the area, and the guy gives you a piece of armor you can just buy in the next village.

Don't try to assume you know what Breath of the Wild is like, before playing it. It is an extremely relaxing game to play, and is still the crown jewel of the Switch. You will find very few people who have negative things to say about it, and those who do have serious issues.

I have BotW and I can't even bring myself to start it because every time I turn on the console all I do is play Mario Kart. I've never not had fun playing that game. Even when I'm about to win and everything goes sideways in the final straight away, I just laugh about it. For every time I've had certain victory taken away from me, I've done it to someone else. You can login at any time of day and race a bunch of random people all over the world. I just love that game too much.

I'm knee deep in BoTW - Wife isn't too excited about that one. Being new to the Zelda world, other than on my Nintendo in the 80's, I wanted to go buy another Zelda. There are several of them...what is the order that I should play?

Ocarina of Time is considered one of the GOATs. It may be a little dated, but it is as Zelda as Zelda can get.

After you play Ocarina of Time I'd suggest these two:

A Link to the Past, it's a golden oldie.
Also, the remake of Link's Awakening on Switch is awesome.
