There was a remake for it that put in a map, and updated it to look more like Super Metroid. Called Zero Mission.

I enjoyed the hell out of Metroid Samus Returns remake on 3DS. Especially cool because I remember playing Metroid 2 on my original Gameboy when I was 5-6, and finding it to be such a hard game.

So my company apparently blocks about 99% of things "nintendo" related so not much help but I think your best bet is if you can find someone taking pre-orders and after that it may just be persistence in checking stock online or maybe waiting in line in the AMs if you can figure out stock delivery schedules (ie ammo about a year back)


edit: just saw an article that said many pre-orders are filled. sounds like it may be tough so my suggestions are probably worthless and someone else with experience in hard-to-find systems will need to chime in.

Do you already have a Switch and are looking to upgrade? I'm planning on buying a Switch for my kid and was reading up about whether it made sense to buy the regular or the OLED. The only real reason I could gather to buy the OLED version is if you plan handheld a lot. There's no increased performance in the system when hooked up to a tv, it's just a nicer handheld screen. I plan on buying the regular one because if I hand that screen to my 6 year old it will end up broken fairly quickly.

No. We don't have a Switch. My kids are young so this will be their first gaming system. As for handheld vs. TV, I anticipate that it will be used handheld (fought over) in the backseat on trips and by my wife and I (both former childhood Mario fans).

If you buy two extra controllers, then you can get a holder that suspends the switch screen between the two front seats and both kids can play racing games (Mario Kart) or any number of co-op games (like Lego City, Lego Harry Potter, etc)

According to IGN, Best Buy will have the Switch OLED in stock tomorrow. There is a countdown timer to 12am central on the Switch OLED page on the Best Buy website.

If anyone is looking for a Switch OLED, you may be able to walk in to a store and buy one. They have 10 that were not preordered at the Dallas Park Lane Best Buy.

Have we discussed the news of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas is coming to Switch soon?!??!!!

Animal Crossing Direct at 9am. Brewster announcement!

I never got into animal crossing. I think it's because I made my son the first villager so he was the only one who could advance the town and he never played.

I tried to play Animal Crossing, and just couldn't get into it. I also am a fan of basebuilding and such. I've invested countless hours into games like Minecraft.

Does anyone play NBA 2k on switch? Looking to see if it's worth it.

I'm on an 8 person family plan so $10 a head is pretty good.

Im on a family plan, but none of my family members can use nintendo online. I guess im too stupid to figure out how to get them on it.

I went to my nintendo account on my desktop and added my son, but it doesnt seem my password works for the store.

GTA Anthology comes out quickly as November 11th is the online release followed by a physical release on December 7th! I think I will be going the physical copy route!

Super Mega Baseball 3 is better than anything besides The Show. No MLB licensing but otherwise a fantastic baseball game.

Anyone played Zelda - Age of Calamity? My son has done pretty much everything you can do with BOTW - even on hard mode. My wife saw this but I didn't know anything about it. My limited research leads me to believe he will be disappointed and should just wait for BOTW2 next year.

Unless he likes Dynasty Warriors, it is waaaaaay different than traditional Zelda. Maybe get him the Skyward Sword remake instead?

Not a Zelda game, but Immortals Fenyx Rising is a decent game in that open world genre, with a sort of Greek mythology flair. Very clearly wears its Zelda influences on its sleeve.

My kids love the game. Its definitely not like Zelda in that it has no puzzles and you just run around slashing stuff, but it has all the Zelda characters they love.

I loved Age of Calamity. It's a fun hack and slash with an awesome story. It's essentially a What If for BOTW.

Like someone else said, look up Dynasty Warriors series. Its a large level action game with a ton of enemies to destroy. Usually set during the Chinese dynasties but this time in the Zelda world! I enjoy it but I came to it as both a Zelda and DW fan.

Best Buy just let me pay for a white OLED. Said it would be available for pick-up at College Station location next Wednesday 11/17.

Looking for some advice. I haven't owned a console since I had my first kid 9 years ago and gave my X-Box 360 to a friend. I haven't owned a Nintendo anything since the 64.

Kids are old enough now and love Mario Kart so I'm thinking it's a good year to get a console again. I'm considering getting a refurbished/preowned Switch instead of hunting for a new OLED. My thought is that my boys are about 2-3 years away from really feeling the peer pressure to have the latest and greatest thing so I can hold off till then to get brand new hotness then.

Some questions for the group:

1) Thoughts on preowned vs OLED?
2) Will I be good to go with just 2 L/R joy cons for most 4 player games?
3) Any other 4-player family game recommendations besides Mario Kart?

1.) The original Switch is fine, especially if you will mostly play it on the TV. Watch out for joycon drift if you buy preowned.

2.) You can play multiplayer with a single joycon per person. Using two joycons with a grip or a pro controller is preferred, but the controllers are not cheap.

There are some good sales on physical copies of most of these games at Best Buy right now.

The Switch controllers have a problem with drifting after a while. If you buy used, you'll probably have to buy new joycon controllers.

Also, sliding the switch in and out of the dock, the screen can start to get scratched if they didn't put a screen protector on it.

Outside of that, I don't foresee buying a used switch as that big of a deal.
