Apparently my nephew (or one of his friends) was able to mess up his Switch in less than 10 days -- it looks like the USB-C port inside the dock has been pushed in, so now it won't charge.

Any recommendations for repairs in the Dallas area? My go-to phone repair guy says they don't work on them.

Big Direct Incoming at 4 CST! Most likely the 5.0 overhaul with Online Service.

Nevermind the big Direct. More cardboard than we already have in our lives.

Have you called Nintendo? I've read multiple accounts of them being very generous in fixing or replacing broken devices.

Walmart currently has Pro Controllers for $50 and the Switch Dock Set for $60. Just picked up a dock for myself.

Either they matched Amazon or Amazon matched them.
Same prices on Amazon!

I bought an 8Bitdo SN30 Pro Controller a few weeks ago. The controller looks and feels good. Works great with the Switch.
Does need a firmware update out of the box.

https://www.amazon.com/8Bitdo-SN30-Controller-Windows-macOS-Android/dp/B0748S1VDC/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1518888310&sr=1-4&keywords=8bitdo&th=1

Though, after a while you would want to use a Pro Controller if your hands get cramped. I take mine to travel with me, less awkward in the bag than the Pro Controller.

Picked up a Switch with Mario Odyssey over the weekend. Loving the game so far! I've got Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 on my shortlist to pick up, but I'm in no rush since I have both for Wii U

Doom is so good on the Switch. Closest thing to Halo in your pocket.

Odyssey Baloon update is pretty interesting.

Has anyone here found a decent grip case to make the Switch easier to hold? I have pretty large hands and trying to play any game on bare Switch is just about impossible. I 3D printed this one, it's comfotable, and gets the job done, but it's a pretty clunky solution.

I stumbled across this Skull & Co. GripCase last night. Looks very nice. Thinking about pulling the trigger on one.

Please don't flame me for this, but I have never played a Smash Bros. game ever, are they really that good? When I worked at GameStop (MANY years ago) all I heard was how Smash Bros Melee was amazing and what not but I didn't have a GameCube. I am thinking about getting this iteration of Smash bros.

They are great. One of the kings of a local party with everyone sitting on the couch together. Easy enough to pick up and push random buttons and look like you're doing something, very high skill cap if you work at it. But it is really fun to take it iut of the box, and have Mario throwing fireballs, Link shooting arrows and swinging his sword, and Pikachu dropping lightning everywhere. Put characters from everywhere go into battle and it is on!

Melee is still probably the king of the series, but they've all been fun. The last one on Wii U was pretty fantastic- I'll be buying even if the Switch version is just a port.

Melee was definitely amazing. Still holds up as the best in the series, imo.

It's just so much fun to play with friends. Probably the best fighting game ever made.

Brawl was also great, and had a story mode, which was actually quite epic.

5.0 Update out. Nothing big but the highlight feature is connecting Facebook and Twitter to find friends, if people are willing to connect their accounts.

If you connected to facebook and twitter through screenshots, your user names and passwords were saved for easy sign in.

Extra parental controls were added as well.

Bought a Switch and BOTW immediately after the Smash teaser trailer. Even as someone who primarily plays on PC, I'm absolutely loving this thing.

I'm really happy with how the Switch is going. BotW and Odyssey were both amazing 10/10 games, which made for a really strong 2017. Plus Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2, and others.

But on top of that, the third party support has been solid, and getting even better. Doom, Skyrim, Dark Souls, Wolfenstein II, etc.

That, combined with the constant stream of solid indie titles, has been the lifeblood of the Switch. As long as the third party is there and the big first party titles remain constant, this thing will continue to do well.

They don't even need a huge game every quarter. Just 1-2 top tier first-party games would be enough each year.

2017:
BotW
Odyssey

2018:
Super Smash Bros
Pokemon (Likely but not confirmed)

2019:
Metroid Prime 4
???

A main Pokemon on console has been my dream since Gen 2. That would be a Day 1 buy for me.

Other likely first party titles:
Sequel for Super Mario 3D World
Mario Maker 2

Things I would like to see:
DK game
Odyssey 2
Zelda Maker (since they supposedly built one to test some BotW mechanics), although I don't know how well this would work

I love my Switch, but I really wish they would get a virtual console library up and running in some sort of capacity. The Wii U has SO many VC games available and the Switch has squat...

Not a new game, but Tropical Freeze is coming to Switch May 4th.

Absolutely on the DK game. My biggest wishes on the Switch, before the latest direct, were Smash and a new DK game. (Fully 3D / open-world sequel to DK64.)

And regarding the VC - a lot of people seem to think that the lack of details on the new Online system, is because they are holding back a big VC announcement for E3.

If they could have a sort of Netflix-like subscription-based Virtual Console bundled with their paid Online, I would have zero issue paying $10/month for it. It's a home run.

Today at 11am Central there's a Nindies Showcase happening. It's like a Nintendo Direct for just indie games.

This might be of interest to many:

https://gonintendo.com/stories/304483-8bitdo-usb-adapter-now-supports-xbox-one-controllers-on-switch

TLDR: This adapter lets you use bluetooth controllers with your Switch, such as PS4 controllers and the latest round of Xbox One controllers (but not earlier XB1 controllers, including the Elite). If it works well, that's going to take care of controllers three and four for me.

Lastly, since no one else has mentioned it, I wanted to give a big plug for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. I absolutely loved that game on WiiU and so did my kids. It's based on a handful of levels from Super Mario 3D World, which I still think is the best Mario game ever made (I'm hoping for a true sequel on Switch, but I'd be surprised if they don't port it, seeing how much they're porting from WiiU). Captain Toad is sort of a puzzle-y platformer except that poor Toad can't jump because his backpack is too heavy, so there's no platforming. It's a little hard to describe, but it's totally wonderful. The graphics and music are incredibly cute and soothing. The Switch version is going to have some new levels inspired by Mario Odyssey, and I think it's $40, as was the original.

Strongest possible recommendation! Maybe watch a video review to see if there's any chance you'd like it. When the first one came out, it was on demo kiosks at Best Buys, so maybe it will be again.

This one has been available for a while now, and has great reviews. I think the 8bitdo one is supposed to go for $20 though instead of $25.

Thanks, I had no idea! Yeah, the 8bitdo one is $20, and looks cooler if one cares. Mine arrived today and I'll check it out when I get home.

One thing I didn't realize is that you need one adapter per controller, so if I want to add two controllers, I'll need another adapter. I'm not sure how I'll want to arrange that with the Switch's ports, if I do go that way.

Also, I somehow failed to notice that this adapter supports WiiU Pro Controllers, which would seem more natural to use with the Switch than the PS4 and Xbox controllers I mentioned before; I might use those instead.

We got both sets for the kids yesterday (11 and 8) and it has been a hit. I've also been impressed; I guess I didn't appreciate the capabilities of the Joy-con controllers, which obviously is the heart of what drives the toys and games you build.

You might want to consider a 4 port USB hub if you decide you like it.
