Spice wood passed away a couple years ago. Care a hell of a lot more about that than Notre Dame

I recently had some Monarch butterfly caterpillars in my yard. I later found several that had gone to the chrysalis stage. One morning about two weeks ago, most of them had already emerged into butterflies, but one was lagging behind the others. I began watching it closely for signs of changes, and caught it before the butterfly emerged. I decided to set up for a time lapse video the evening that I noticed the changes taking place.

Here is a shot of the chrysalis a few days after I found it.




This is the time lapse video I put together from shooting all night into the next morning. Fortunately, it happened to be one of the rare evenings that we had no rain forecast.




And the newly emerged Monarch butterfly shortly before it flew off.
