McCarthy was not a good hire.
Dak has been great this year but this team is a hot mess.
That's going a bit too far. He had no training camp with the team. The offense is great. It's just one unit tearing the whole team down.Ag12thman said:

I think McCarthy will be fine. This defense is horrific though because the guys getting paid good $$$ are terrible and they are complimented with nobodies that suck too

Romo to Dak after Dak throws for 500 yards and 4 td's but still loses.
I agree its a bit early to judge him but it feels like he doesn't have much presence on the sideline. Jaylon is the second highest paid player on this defense and he may be their worst player right now.

We always made fun of that stupid dork Garrett with his clapping, his huge laminated cards, and the headset.
The head coach of the cowboys should never be a freaking dork and Garrett was for pretty much 10 years.

Well, Dono finally demonstrated that he can play.
They pretty much have to keep Jaylon thru 2021 because of that stupid deal they prematurely gave him before 2019.
I think it's pretty tough to judge sideline presence with the whole mask situation

Watching the defense against these outside zones I can't stop wondering what the hell our DL is doing. The seem to me intentionally attaching themselves to the OL and reading the play. Isnt the best way to kill these plays is to get quick penetration on the edge and disrupt?
If they are running the scheme then Nolan has to adapt immediately or get lost.
On another note, watching Philly and SF play its become so apparent that you need to draft a DL in the first two rounds every stinking year. Im glad Hill seems to be playing better now but that Taco pick is just killing us now. Just that one decision taking Taco over Watt is such a turning point.

When I watch other teams DL pre snap compared to ours, I see why we struggle so much. We have a 5-11 Woods & a 350 pound slob in poe. Other teams have physically imposing DTs that don't get bullied off the snap. This won't get fixed anytime soon unless we make some trades & sign someone like snacks (if he's still in shape). Also Jaylon just can't get off blocks & make plays against the run.

Yeah. They look like a bunch of fat guys on skates every play. They just pinball in one basic spot. Watching them all get herded like some fat cows on that reverse would be funny if it wasn't so painful. They basically got locked in a human cattle pen
And I don't think I saw Jaylon tackle a guy before he was nearly 10 yards downfield all day.

If this team had an average, even mediocre, defense they would be unstoppable. This is one of the worst defenses I have ever seen in the NFL.

I will say this, there are folks w Cowboys saying that it's a minor miracle that Tank is actually playing. He apparently is playing very hurt.
While he doesn't have great sack numbers, he is still playing pretty well and it also appears he is sucking it up and going when he could potentially sit.

If there is anything I question about Jaylon's effort, it is willingness (or unwillingness) to take on a block and shed it with proper technique. He is awfully busy running around out there, but rarely is it effective and putting him in a spot to make a play. He mostly ends up lost in traffic and chasing plays.
You cannot have the middle of your defense constantly lost. The entire thing falls apart. Think back to some of the worst defenses A&M has ever fielded In the past 20 years and one common theme was MLB issues.
