I think that's a little rich. I think you may be able to get him for less than that.

He wants a new deal paying a fortune. I don't think we have that kind of money for a safety and the Jets want a lot for him. I don't think it happens.

It's going to cost someone big time to get him because the Jets have him under contract for two and potentially three more years if they use a franchise tag. Both sides want a deal done in NY and the latest trade talk probably came from the front office leaking rumors to the press to apply pressure after Adams' side leaked info on his holdout.

Kirk is a local boy and fan favorite in AZ, Cowboys would have to overpay for him IMHO.

I think that deal would be better for both sides than a 1st round straight up. This trade would give us 3 day 2 picks this year, which we need to fill out the rest of our roster. Next year, we will likely have 3 3rd round picks due to the compensatory pics we will gain from losing Byron Jones & Robert Quinn.

Now this would be interesting... I wonder how much they would ask for. They drafted Andy Isabella last year in the second round & he looks to be a slot WR at 5'8. I doubt Stephen & co. would give up more than a 4th round for him. I'm a little biased but Kirk would be a perfect fit for us so maybe we give up a little more.

Kirk has been productive at Arizona and was a 2nd rounder. Plus he can return punts and kicks. Surely he would cost more than a fourth?
I'm biased as well, one of the nest skill guys I've ever seen in college A&M or not.

I think at this point right before the draft a 3rd round pick is too valuable. If we want to wait until after the draft & give a 3rd next year then that's ok but I just think we need that 3rd round pick now to get a foundation piece for Mccarthy. We'd only have kirk for 2 seasons and it seems like ARZ has plenty of talent at WR outside of Kirk. This draft is deep at WR too so we won't be as desperate to make a trade, IMO.

This is a deep receiver draft why not just draft one?

The thinking is that with coronavirus limiting practice, rookies will be way behind the curve. But this is a 3rd receiver we are talking about. I agree, just draft one

Agreed. It is too close to trade for Kirk. Man what a big pick up if we could him though.

Let's say we can get him for a 3rd. Why draft a rookie at one the hardest positions to adjust to in the nfl as a rookie when you can grab a veteran that is a known commodity on offense and ST.

Cuz not all are a sure thing like Kirk. I'd give up a 3rd for him. He's a perfect fit for what we need.

Gonna keep digging a deeper salary cap hole if we give away picks for players with soon to be expiring contracts.

You saw what Cole got last year in free agency and what Cobb got this year.

I love Kirk too but it doesn't work. If we really need a 3rd receiver... and I think we do... then go get one in the draft and don't miss!

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Exactly. Gotta have cheap 1-4 year labor. They've already paid so many guys, with a massive deal to Dak on the way. Gallup will also be hitting FA at the same time as Kirk. Taking advantage of a deep WR class makes so much more sense. Then you have Gallup, Cooper, and a drafted WR all staggered deal-wise.

Nope.

I can't stress enough how grateful I am that Mr. Conservative is long gone. This is not baseball. There aren't 162 games in the regular season and there are no series in the playoffs.

Football is a game that favors the bold and aggressive. Garrett had none of that mentality.

Draft talk:

All the sites have had Chase Young going to Washington #2 for months. I guess it's a case of best player cause Washington's DL and OLB pass rushers are already pretty salty. Add Young to that group and they are gonna be filthy. They still have a ways to go as a team, but that's the kind of front 7 that can steal games from division rivals even if they are having a bad year.

I'm curious why they wouldn't consider Okudah. I know Kerrigan is getting old, but they've spent so many top picks on their front 7 in recent years. But, answering my own question perhaps, some think Young is one of the top pass rushing prospects in years so I'm not looking forward to Wash getting him if that's the pick.

Dallas Draft:

Man, the more I see the more I hope we can bail the hell outta there at 17.

I'm pretty sure the top 2 CBs are gone as well as Kinlaw and Chaisson. And yeah, Lamb and Judy are also off the board so the option to overstock at WR is gone too.

Still lots of great targets... we have our pick of the top 2 safeties and the 2nd tier of CBs aren't bad either, but we need to bail and get them later. Could also trade back and take Ruiz and literally re-live the Frederick draft.

Can only hope the QBs fall and somebody really wants to come up. If not I fear the top tier prospects are gone and we end up having to take a guy that we could have gotten in the mid 20s. I swear, drafting between 15-20 is typically the pits!

I want to fall in love with someone that will realistically be there at 17. Henderson would be a pipe dream at this point and while Chiasson may be there, it'll take him at least a year or 2 to develop and he is far from a sure thing. Taking out any type of trade (which I'm hoping for) there may be a real possibility of us taking a guy like Ruggs.

It's what the 49ers have been doing and look at their results. A dominant front seven Can keep games close.

I think and elite tackle, Delpit, McKinley (Bama safety) and one WR will be available at 17. Get the safety!

Yeah, the plethora of OTs are our only hope that we get a top tier player falling to us. That and the possibility of 4 QBs going early with teams like the Pats possibly trading up.

It's why I friggin love the draft, even though I hate being at 17. I can say all I want how certain players will be gone. But most years some strange things happen and we'll have a couple guys we didn't expect still be on the board. Hell, that scenario could happen, we get all excited that player X is still available, and then the Cowboys will still trade down. LOL, can't wait!

I love Ruggs, but think a true slot is what cowboys need. You can draft that later or go get Kirk if price is right.

Chaisson or McKinley in first

Agreed. I think there will be choices due to all the OTs, WR, QBs, and CBs that are high end and teams that are 1-16 need those. Going to be wild.

I heard a quote from a GM saying that the mocks will be off more this year than any other in the recent past. Because of the pandemic there is a lot less information leaking out and each team has a chance to have vastly different evaluations. It should be interesting.

I'm personally not in favor of trading back in this situation. You dont know what anyone else is thinking. So if you like a guy just take him. This team doesnt need a ton of picks.

If it is a safety I too like McKinney. My understanding is he can come down and cover so I like that, especially considering how many average tight ends killed us last year.

When it comes to Chaisson I can only take the words of others, some of which are scared of him as a prospect. David Helman (works for the Cowboys and LSU grad) gave a very promising take on him the other day. He acknowledged the critics, but also painted a picture of a player on the rise. Guy contributed as a freshman on a very talented LSU team. Was injured his sophomore year.... and last year he got better and better all year long and by the time the playoffs came around he was an absolute menace.

Player on the rise, 20 years old, only getting bigger, stronger, better. If he's the pick then I'm gonna have to drink the Kool-aid as usual... he will be a very exciting pick and a fun career to watch.

ESPN saying Niners want more picks... they have 2 first rounders (13 & 31) and then have nothing until the 4th round.

Let me play around with 2 scenarios... both scenarios have us swapping picks and giving up our 3rd rounder:

We move from 17-13: We get Kinlaw at 13 and then get lucky with somebody like Gladney or Arnette at 51

We move from 51 - 31: We get Chaisson at 17 and Ruiz at 31.

Trying to figure out if I like either of those scenarios. Right now, I don't think I'm thrilled losing our 3rd rounder when we can most likely find a day 1 starting #3 WR with that pick. If anything I'd like to trade down in the 2nd (maybe use our 4th round comp pick for leverage). Assuming we get a solid 1st rounder, I have no issues moving up in round 2 if we feel really strongly about somebody that we can go get.

But in general I think we need our 3 top 100 picks... and we need to hit on all 3 of them!

EDIT: I forgot to play my own game... I would choose option 1 from above if I had to. Kinlaw could turn into a
Donald type disruptive force in the middle and I'd be thrilled to get one of those CBs in the 2nd.

I still can't believe some teams wanted the NFL to move the draft back. Sports fans everywhere should be excited that the draft is happening. We've already lost countless hockey, baseball, and basketball games.

Draft night will be seen as a brief return to normalcy, if you can easily overlook that fans won't be there like I can.
