At this point I don't think they have a choice but to re-sign Dak. He's not great, but in this day and age finding a QB can be tricky and he's good enough to win a title if other things around him are hitting all cylinders.

Hoping he accepts a franchise tag though for now but I have a feeling it wont even come to that. This organization loves rewarding guys.

If this team wants to go all in I'll go ahead and make my ANNUAL statement that they need to sign a playmaking Safety. They don't even need to sign a bunch of players. Just a good, playmaking Safety. Then go out and have a solid draft. That by itself puts them in contention next year.

I've heard rumblings that Dak / Agent are more than happy to wait, even if that means getting tagged. The strategy being wait until after Mahomes signs and sets the new gold standard. The price for QBs is constantly going up and Mahomes deal will be a big leap forward.

Personally I think he is better than "good enough if everything else is on all cylinders". Hey isn't a Brees or Brady, but there is a lot of room between those two. I dont think he deserves a max contract, but we'll see.

I like Dak, but if he's pushing for over $40/yr, he's getting tagged and traded.

I could find a QB for $20 mil that could miss the playoffs too.

Mahomes will get 40... Dak won't, but it will still raise the bar for QBs once again. We all talked about Dak possibly getting 30 last year and several people thought "hell no". Well, a year later, that number is probably in the mid 30's. As the tweet shows, he gets low 30's for a tag anyway.

And the tweet is a little unfair... most contenders have a QB/RB/WR combo making mega millions and eating up large chunks of the salary cap. The Cowboys issue is that we had a team that was good enough to win an NFC Championship while these guys were making peanuts and we Jason Garretted it away.

If I had to guess we tag Dak and then cut Tyron Smith after the 2020 season when he has one year left on his contract and not much dead money. That will free up some money to pay Dak out but we will need to draft and develop another tackle and could possibly move Collins to the left side.

Thanks for running those numbers.

I love the part about "the dream" at the end. Yep, we had that exact same "dream". Friggin #1 seed when those guys were rookies and we pissed away 4 years of cap glory.

We better keep drafting well and hope our regular Joe's step up. Guys like Trysten Hill need to make huge leaps.

The hilarious but also sad angle will be if JG goes over to NYG and their offense just starts clicking.

Daniel Jones isn't awful. Saquon is Saquon. Golden Tate ... I think they'll be fine on offense. Course knowing JG, Saquon would only rush in the first quarter then be a blocker the rest of the game.

Will be interesting to see.

We will need to replace Maliek Collins in the draft since I don't think it is possible to resign him. I would look for the Raiders to try to land him now that Marinelli is on their staff.

Glad he's gone then.

Although, I can imagine Garrett always sticking up for heath in meetings since Garrett was wrong about almost everything.

Hopefully we get Delpit or Chiasson with our first rounder. They would both fill a hole.

If he goes, he goes. Love Witten, but I want as much new blood as possible here. I'd actually rather see him in NY if it means not another guy on the staff whose loyalty to Jerry is more than to the coach.
