Talk to SCOTUS about it.

Houchins v. KQED (1978): The First Amendment does not require the government to give the press access to information or places under government control. It "is neither a Freedom of Information Act nor an Official Secrets Act." The press's core protection is the right to communicate information once obtained, not a right to collect it from the government.

Pell v. Procunier (1974) and related cases: The press has no constitutional right to information or locations not available to the public generally.

Zemel v. Rusk (1965): "Entry into the White House [is not] a First Amendment right. The right to speak and publish does not carry with it the unrestrained right to gather information."

The fact is that their ability to print or broadcast whatever garbage they want to has not been infringed. There is no First Amendment right to your own personal seat in the WH breifing room, and there is nothing in Trump's post saying that CNN and MSNOW cannot broadcast.

Now personally, I wouldn't have gone as far as Trump. I would have made it a point that in the interests of trying to be efficient with stupid things Biden has done, the WH is going to begin using Biden's fake briefing room across the street. Now, it will just be called an "overflow room". Outlets like CNN, MSNBC, and others that ask stupid, inane combative questions will be relocated to that room where they can watch the briefing on closed circuit TV, but not have the ability to disrupt or derail briefings.

There, a compromise.

ETA: I find it telling that the same people who are losing their mind over CNN and MSNOW being kept from the WH briefing room had absolutely no problem with the WH Press Corps deciding who can and cannot attend WH briefings.

Guess what? You can't have it both ways and be taken seriously.

those cases are all easily distinguished. the first two involved access to prisons . the third involved a person that wanted to go to Cuba. the line about the white house is dicta regarding unauthorized entry, not banning the press for not liking what they report.

I think ALL national news outlets should be replaced with editors and reporters of newspapers of towns with less than 15,000 people. Add to this podcasters of DIY 'ER's and guys on YouTube that create video content of how to work with your hands; mechanics, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC, etc.

They would have better questions with things that are more relevant to average Americans.

It's all he's got going for him at the moment. He shut the bed with Iran and is dealing with serious economic issues because of it. It can't be blamed on his people around him anymore because he "learned" from his mistakes in his first term.

He's becoming more of a caricature than before and it will only get worse when the Dems take back Congress, unfortunately.

Agreed. The right as a whole think CNN, MSNBC, etc. are uniquely partisan which they very clearly are (unless it suits their worldview or current position). It's part of the game the folks at the top play to keep the peons like us fighting amongst ourselves.

How can the media be held accountable otherwise? I do what I can - I don't watch MSM or subscribe to their newspapers, and I am certainly not alone in that, yet they continue to exist to spew their opinions as facts.

There's nothing unusual about the partisanship of the news networks. They run on ad revenue and so they cater to audiences by differentiating through the political agenda they promote.

I don't believe this is the issue that caused Trump to ban CNN and MSNOW from the White House. CNN and MSNOW pursue their political agenda driven reporting by publishing outright lies and uncorroborated Democrat party narrative. When the narrative is exposed as falsehoods, they never acknowledge that or retract. They proudly display journalism awards for publishing exposed lies. The Russia hoax, Hunter's laptop, E. Jeanne Carroll, fine people on both sides, kids in cages. Never a retraction.

They lie with such commitment that even their own leaders are sometimes surprised to learn that they believed the lies e.g. in 2024 Hasan Piker heard for the first time (during a live debate) the full quote from Trump about the protesters clashing at Charlottesville. No apology. No shame. They are still defending the SPLC.

lol. You mean the POTUS that has spent more time on a microphone going out of his way to talk to reporters than any other POTUS in history...and by miles.

He has stood in front of the media and done Q&A for hours just because he wants to and likes to spar. No POTUS in history has given the amount of access to the press that this guy has. It's not even debatable. It plays into his narcissism so you can't have this both ways.

If these outlets weren't so blatantly anti-American there likely wouldn't be a problem here.
