Remind me...who was president when half of NC was destroyed by flooding and then left to recover without the help of discriminating feds? Who was governor when half of LA was destroyed by fire that could have been severely mitigated?

These people have no leg to stand on morally or logically but that's never stopped them before.

Any POTUS being immediately present at a disaster site can hinder rescue efforts. Too much security baggage a POTUS has to bring with him that uses up and distracts local resources.

Trump has no business being any where near central Texas right now. If he had shown up then I would have been critical of that as political grand standing that was only degrading search and rescue efforts.

That said, There are members of both sides (left and right) who will try to score political points with any disaster. Trump himself has done this. It is the dark and dirty side of politics. For example remember when the army helicopter in DC crashed into that commercial airliner earlier this year? Literally within just a few hours after the accident before any actual investigation and fact gathering had taken place, there was a bunch of 'DEI hiring' speculation in social media and Trump himself criticizing the Biden administration as guilty for what happened. We can easily bring up examples of this for every disaster back and forth endlessly.

As soon as I see any news site starting to play the political 'blame game' in disaster coverage, I tune it out and turn it off. I am sick of those types of tribal party politics games.

This exact same thing happened over a decade ago, ostensibly under the greatest NWS ever during the Chicago Jesus administration and wouldn't you know, flash flooding is hard to predict even the best of circumstances

This all reminds me of liberal outrage that Cruz was in Mx for vacation during La Rona. Like there was something that he could do, when actually he was carrying on with life like I did.

This is a massive amount of water coming down these canyons in a very short period of time. Been doing some math with a couple of AIs. The last stat I saw last night showed Lake Travis had risen 17 ft in the 2 1/2 days since this all started. Lake Travis is 65 miles long....about 30sq miles surface area....this yields a flow of about 105B (billion) gallons of water; 322k acre feet of water.

That's roughly equivalent to the flow of Niagara Falls for 2 days; or a half mile cube of water...that amount of water would fill Inks Lake 23 times....

It's hard but the best thing to do is ignore people who's first response is to blame the political party they hate. Most people are respectful during these hard times.
