Seems Zelensky is unwilling to negotiate peace at this time. He'd prefer to keep the grift of US tax dollars going.

And Putin is?
Do you have evidence Putin is unwilling to negotiate peace?

If Putin wanted peace he could end the war today. As a reminder, he's the invader.

Most posters know he's the invader and support him in doing so.

You forgot the part where the CIA overthrew Ukraine and installed an anti-Russian government.

Come on, now we just talked about this.

You're talking to someone who's entire lifestyle depends on US taxpayers continuing to fund him. He need Ukraine war as bad as Biden does.

Clay Travis just made a great point on the radio...."Usually, when it's obvious who is going to win the war, you call a cease fire."

Ukraine cannot in any way possibly win this war, especially without any more funding from the US.

Agreed. Frustrating display by all three of them for anyone who actually wants to see peace happen, but especially Zelenskyy. He has to know by now that you have to schmooze Trump in order to have him on your side. Even if he was right about Russia that's not nearly as important to Ukraine at this point as getting the deal done. Hopefully they get it figured out.
Zelenskyy miscalculated. He knew he had Biden eating out of his hand and would get promises for any request for aid. Biden set the precedent that Ukraine could dictate to the U.S. what to do. Trump is sending the message that Ukraine has no leverage - and frankly that should have been a firm understanding from the outset of the conflict, but the Biden Administration set a horrible example of appeasement.

This conflict is a complete mess, and it gets worse for the U.S. the deeper we get pulled into it.

I'm sorry...just so I'm clear....

Are you making the case a month ago, Biden was considered a 'respected world leader?'

That's a tough argument to make, my man. World leaders were caught talking about him and laughing at him a few years ago. He got lost, 3 feet away from a group photo with world leaders.

I think the reality here is Russia doesn't have to give away anything or make concessions. The goal is to get them to stop. That might be hard for folks to understand, but Russia has. a significant say in agreeing to a cease in hostility. Ukraine will at some point have to start drafting their 18 to 21 year olds and they still will not have enough souls to sacrifice 1for 1 with the Russians.

The best outcome is to get Russia to stop attacking and keep what they have won. Honestly who is going to dislodge Russia out of those captured territories?

What makes you think Russia just wants what they have?

I am just saying…..that is the best outcome for Ukraine is for Russia to agree to end the war but they are keeping what they have won. Ukraine will loose the long game unless there are countries willing to send their soldiers to die for Ukraine.

If Russia wants more…..then the war will continue. .

When only the half of the country that supports you is allowed to vote you are pretty much guaranteed to win in a landslide.

They want more than what they have. Their main concession will be to accept far less than what they want. Ukraine will have to give up territory and agree to min rights as payback to the US, but won't have to keep losing its people.

Nobody gets what they want, which is the nature of the thing.

Contrary to some of the comments on here, while I do think Zelensky was installed as a puppet, I don't think he's wanting to continue the war due to grift. Rather he's engaging in a form of sunk cost fallacy. His people will be better off if they agree to a brokered peace deal, despite the concessions it will cost them.

The alternative is a lot more lives lost and quite likely much more territory as well.

Anyone who thought the U.S. was respected as a world leader for the past 4 years before Trump got here is completely blind. The reason we're in this mess with Ukraine in the first place is because the U.S. wasn't respected...both by Putin and by Ukraine that kept pushing the U.S. for more.

Dumbest take of the day.

A hero? What makes you think he's a hero?

Gosh, I remember when Trump was president the first time, the leftist media said what a horrible person Zelenskkt was that he was a fascist and a dictator, and Trump was a horrible person to try to deal with him. And then somehow he became a hero during the Democrats corrupt administration.

What a joke.

We are well aware that the the pro-russia side thinks a real hero would lay down and surrender.
It's not that, but this dude is no hero nor is he brave. He can wear all the quasi-military outfits he wants and it won't change anything. And he'll keep it going as long as he can keep banking money away; once that sweet grift runs dry he'll disappear like a roach when the lights come on.

Is there like a Russian propaganda newsletter you guys subscribe to where you get emailed these hot takes??

And neither are you Jbob. Despite what Trump says, for three years Ukraine has held off the Russians, yes somewhat with US aid, but not solely. They've used limited resources well while Russia has thrown enormous resources at Ukraine and barely holds a quarter of the country.

And JD Vance needs to stay in his lane regarding press gangs in Ukraine rounding up soldiers. How many drafts have the Russians had in three years? They had to borrow conscripts from North Korea too.

Can you acknowledge that the CIA overthrew the country in 2014?

And expanded nato against a long held agreement, we had with russia?

We had no agreement with Russia not to expand NATO.
You are right there is no legal agreement but overlook that the promise was made in order to induce the Soviets to negotiate over German reunification. As time went on, the Soviet Union collapsed and administrations changed, that promise was forgotten or ignored and repeatedly broken.

We didn't make this promise either. Even Gorbachev said no such agreement existed.
This was written about over and over again in even the main stream media until it was no longer convenient.

This did happen.

Reagan and Bush 1 promises to Gorbachev.
Clinton promises to Yeltsin, Putin, and Medvedev.
Then Clinton abruptly changed gears... and when Russia inquired about NATO membership, Clinton, and then Bush 2, shunned him.

This is where we are

The next move is Putin's. If he starts gaining ground or increasing missile attacks now, any chance of good relations with the U.S. are off the table, with all that implies.

The smart play is to give Trump some room to get Ukraine back on a productive deal-making path. And that seems doable.

This will blow over. Deals often have at least one "walk-away." Trump strengthened his hand. Zelensky weakened his hand. That's where we needed to be.
