It would have been better if they could have trimmed it down and possibly not passed it at all but I bet It was agreed Trump didn't want to walk into a shutdown and right now the Dems still run the senate, the R House majority is microscopic, and Biden's staff is still running the presidency.

That only holds if you believe the MSM version of the stopping of the fake "bipartisan" border bill led by Lankford. No that was stopped because it was junk that would have heavily empowered DC and even formalized some of the massive influx. It wasn't to `improve' Trump's campaign.

The idea that Trump has some special leverage over the corrupt and go-along Republicans is a myth. Theoretically their votes do, but not Trump.

This would be perfect time for the GOP to hold out and let gov shut down, while Biden is at the helm. Let them blame Trump, a private citizen or whoever in Congress. Then when gov is shut down, force dems to meet DOGE demands.
