It suggests that the shots had something to do with Trump. Even this thread took the bait. "Shots fired AT Trump". Don jr with his "Again folks" message. The campaign had no idea this has anything to do with Trump but knew they could get political traction (which this thread proves they were right) so they spread the word and hoped the base would run with it. It did.
No the campaign did no such thing all the speculation was done by the MSM idiots.
Again for your benefit:
the campaign message was brief and was
  • Steven Cheung told reporters that "President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity" and said that no further details were available "at this time".
Other posters posted the actual campaign statement which was:
