Watching red paint fade is more exciting than watching blue paint fade. That is what I gather from this discussion.

Honestly, if soccer didn't allow ties, I would watch a lot more of it. I hate that part of the game so much.

I don't watch much NFL, but old football rules that allowed for ties at the end of regulation, with no overtime absolutely sucked. Their new rules are better, and so is college (you can still tie in college, it's just really really rare).

The thing is...as a sport, football gives me so much more than soccer in terms of excitement and enjoyment, so I could put up with ties still. I can't say the same at all for soccer. Every tied game should go to a shootout or some type of exciting accelerated overtime, where boring "keep away" shenanigans are discouraged.

I think soccer would draw a lot more casual fans if they just tweaked this. I hate to watch 90+ minutes of mostly boring strategy, only to end in a freaking tie/draw/whatever they call it.

I understand...and in MLS and euro league soccer right? I think draws should be done away with period. Then I'll invest more time watching...if at least I know there is a payoff at the end. There should always be winners and losers. Baseball has always had this right.

If I recall correctly, the '99 championship game ended in a draw and was decided by a 5-4 shootout. One of the American players was credited with kicking the "winning goal", but I always felt more credit was due to the American goalie for being able to stop a point-blank kick.

If there are conservative members on the team, you know they aren't allowed to be vocal or disagree with the liberal narrative. Just ask the teammates "Liar" Thomas.

I used to be a huge USWNT fan. A lot of other people did too. They took pride in them representing America well.

Now? I haven't heard a single person rave about them or say a single thing about the women's world cup. It isn't on the front page of even liberal news sites, including ESPN. If it wasn't for this thread popping up on TexAgs, I wouldn't even know it was going on.

TV ratings were already down 10% from 2021 to 2022, so it will be interesting to see how this year compares to past interest and the men's world cup showing.

I will only root for a team that is 100% pro-America. If you have a single anti-American flaming lib, I'm out. I'll root for any country over you. Was bummed that Netherlands didn't pull it off. Didn't watch, but just checked score a few times hoping I'd see them ahead.

Vietnam looks bad so they should lose to The Netherlands.

Portugal looked good this morning but they were playing Vietnam.

The coolest thing I've seen so far is the 16-year-old American who became the youngest World Cup player when she came in as a substitute. For South Korea.
