Why not? If he makes liberals cry I think its a good thing.

We know. That's why everyone who wants him at A&M wants him at A&M. Because it would piss off liberals and moderates.

Agree. The problem is many have taken a stance that anyone who disagrees with them on any point is their enemy. This poor kid has been turned into a political football and those that he thinks support him now, will turn on him the moment they perceive he doesn't hold to some standard. I'm of the opinion he should be left alone by both side and allowed to live his life unencumbered by the public eye

While that is not the reason that I want Kyle to come to A&M, do you understand why some conservatives might feel that way? The media, academia, internet, and entertainment are all skewed against them, so they want to have a handful of things sacred to them. Perhaps they feel protecting A&M's conservative values are more important than PR.

No shame in going to Blinn.

A lot of shame in going to Blinn after you publicly told the world you're going to A&M.

Agree with both. Blinn Team is pretty close to what was being accepted under academic probation in the 80's 90's. You just missed the cut. There is some work involved to become a full time A&M student. No shame in that at all.
The second part of your post is what a lot of kids/parents say and do - we get grad announcements every year all in maroon saying their kid is heading to Texas A&M when we know they weren't even close to being accepted - they are going to junior college that conveniently is located in BCS. Same thing KR is doing. If they make grades and transfer in 2 years, good for them but they don't mind getting lumped in with those that busted their butt in high school to be accepted as a full time student right off the bat.

You get the same thing with Military Academies. People claim acceptance, when all they have is a Congressional Appointment. Most Congressmen will give an Appointment to anyone vaguely qualified, then leave it to the Academy to decide whether they want the kid. If they do, then the kid gets a letter of Acceptance, which means they are offered a slot.

Good luck at Blinn, Kyle.

It was fairly well covered that he had dropped out of high school prior to the events of Kenosha.

Rittenhouse lived with his mother, nurse's assistant Wendy Rittenhouse, in an apartment complex, which was under police guard following his arrest, according to the Chicago Tribune.

He had been working part-time as a lifeguard at a YMCA in suburban Lindenhurst until he was furloughed in March and fired after his arrest.

He was working after dropping out of high school after complaining about being bullied, the Tribune noted.

His mom had even gone to court seeking an order of protection in January 2017, accusing one of Rittenhouse's classmates of bullying her son with taunts of being "dumb" and "stupid," as well as threatening to hurt him. Despite expressing concern for her son's safety, the single mom ultimately dropped the request, according to Lake County court records.

The Tribune said she could not be reached for comment.
Before that, he had spent just a few months at Community High School District 117, the paper said.
"I don't know the details of his departure," district superintendent Jim McKay told the paper. "He was with us for such a short period of time."

After that, he made a few statements during the trial about earning an online GED equivalent and being a college student at Arizona State. Subsequent media inquiries showed that to not be really true. He was living in Wisconsin, taking open enrollment online courses through ASU, and had not ever applied for admission.

Quote:

Rittenhouse, 18, said on the stand that he is a college student at Arizona State University studying nursing.

ASU confirmed that Rittenhouse enrolled as a non-degree-seeking online student for the session that started in mid-October of this year.

"Kyle Rittenhouse has not gone through the admissions process with Arizona State University and is not enrolled in the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation," university spokesperson Jay Thorne wrote in an email.

The online program "allows students access to begin taking classes as they prepare to seek admission into a degree program at the university," Thorne wrote.

Rittenhouse said during testimony on Wednesday that he lives in Walworth County, Wis., with his mother and two sisters. He said he graduated from an online high school.

I certainly understand it and acknowledge there is an anti-conservative bias in a lot of places. Though, i totally disagree with the notion that KR coming to A&M "protects its conservative values" or whatever. the tone I get from this thread is he should come because it pisses off the right people (and might get said people to leave A&M). Because I think everyone knows by now the A&M student body is less conservative than it was in the past. It's a generally divisive attitude.

As for KR, I dont hate him. I think he deserves to be able to move on and live a normal life. The thing is, he doesn't want a normal life. He wants the fame he has and is loving every second of it. So naturally, he's a divisive figure. With the tension between former and current students we've seen over the past few years, it's just not something our university needs right now.

So it was essentially true, just nuanced. He was enrolled at ASU in their open enrollment program. He had not been admitted to their nursing program which was his goal.

He's a divisive figure only because the entire left wing apparatus (Dems, MSM, big tech) shamelessly lied about him and what happened at the BLM riot. The Left now REALLY hates him because his continual presence reinforces what absolute lying garbage they all are. It's why conservatives see him as kind of a hero.

Edit- it goes way beyond the lying by Dems etc. KR was prosecuted by leftists that knew they had no case just to appease the leftist mob that had been spun up into a frenzy because of all the lying. Yeah, I'm glad his existence and public presence pisses off libs. They damn well deserve it.

Certainly up to interpretation. If you think being a college student is defined by acceptance to a 4 year undergraduate program then you might think he is being less than honest. If you view college studies in a more flexible way, he was not making a misleading statement at all.

I don't know how many of my business acquaintances paid enormous sums for an all comers three week seminar at Harvard and then immediately stamped on their resumes that they did post-graduate studies at Harvard and even wear Harvard belts.

No one should consider them related to that school but that is how Higher Ed works these days.

All that aside, my admittedly naive opinion is that the young man is going to have a tough time getting in through the usual channels. If we all just saw some Joe Sixpack guy trying to get in from out of state, relying on online courses that likely don't map well to entrance requirements, likely sporting a rough high school transcript, etc, etc. etc. etc. then we wouldn't give it great odds.

Yeah but after the Higher Ed Coordinating Board aligned the curriculum, stuff taken at one state school will typically transfer to another. And Blinn makes sure they align with A&M. That's one of their selling points. "Take it here for less."

His announcement about going to A&M went viral first which prompted the statement from A&M. He announced it on a podcast, and it wasn't his first appearance. I'd say he is definitely looking for fame.

Honestly, he probably should seek fame as a practical matter at this point. Regardless of whether one agrees with it, his future options are likely limited now. The comments online show how many people are willing to back him though, so he could turn that into additional guest appearances on podcasts, at events, etc.

Okay. Blinn is still the way into A&M or another school. If he can earn a good GPA at Blinn they won't look at his high school scores when he transfers.

And going to Blinn also opens the door to all those System schools at RELLIS. I doubt Tarleton State would say one negative word if he transfers there.

Sounds like he was not the most academic-minded student before any of this started. I realize that is not the same thing as being smart. The choices he made that fateful night may point to just how smart he really is (interpret that as you wish).

If he really wants to get on with his life, he ought to go to his local community college and apply himself for a couple of years and stay out of the limelight. Personally, I think he is just trying to milk the last of his 15 minutes.

He's the conservatives Greta Thunberg. That being a child that likes getting attention who in reality desperately needs to shut their pie hole and go sit in the corner and quietly color.
Why does he desperately need to shut his pie hole? There is no reason to expect or want that. It's not like he's spouting about crap he knows nothing about like Greta Thunberg.

Reason 1: F16 loves to state how Greta Thunberg and David Hogg need to shut their cock holsters because no one wants to hear some silly teenagers opinions on anything. Asking for consistency in applying the same idea to little Kyle is reasonable.

Reason 2: He's a dumb kid (as are most kids his age) thus he will sooner or later say or do something really stupid. It's inevitable. Don't need such stupidity attached to the right.

Reason 3: I've always found it odd when adults fawn and pine away over some teenager or child. If he shuts up maybe so many adults embarrassing themselves will decease in number.
