I didn't bump it.

But I do think this thread shows that the virus is much worse than most people on here (myself included) though it would be. No conspiracy theory, just a nasty virus that we still don't fully understand.

It was the first post I found. I'm sure somewhere later in the thread you could find me saying that there's no way 100k Americans die from this.

Its amazing anyone is still alive to bump the thread with an illness still circulating; that has a 99% survival rate.

Headed to Cabo this Friday. If I get sick and die you can all ridicule me. I suspect I am at greater risk of serious illness or death from other things Mexico related - some of which are fun. As such - time to keep LIVIN.

PS - will wear a mask on the plane and in the US airport without complaint. Not sure what it will be like once we land in Mexico; assuming the pilots don't die mid-flight from the Rona.

To the top as the vaccine is rolled out and people are fainting from their fear of needles...

Cases, hospitalizations and deaths are at all time highs.

I really didn't think we would surpass the surge earlier in the year, but we definitely have passed the daily case count and are the same or worse in terms of daily hospitalizations and daily deaths. It's not clear if we are at the new peak or if it will keep going higher for the next few weeks.

I still think we should go on with our lives and remove all business restrictions.

With the holidays I actually expect a short terms drop in the number of cases and deaths. No one wants to spend their vacation quarantined, people will be using their vacation time to the fullest, so won't be getting tested and reporting will fall.
You can see where cases dipped down during the thanksgiving break too.

So I'm currently at a hospital in LA covering a surgery and the surgeon just shared an email to The hospital's employees with some pretty dire news. It shares a staggering statistic about the state of affairs in Los Angeles.

We are currently at 99% IcU capacity citywide with over 10K cases a day (14K yesterday, 22K the day before)

Of those, 12% are going to need a hospital bed.

Of those, 12% will go to the icu.

That means an addition of 200 people will be needing ICU beds daily. There is nowhere to put them and they are beginning to plan to make OR rooms and other areas with space makeshift ICUs but they don't have enough equipment.

In short, the message is that things are about to get a lot more serious.
