Other than Lanterns, it feels like Gunn took on Superman and assigned a summer intern to pick the rest of the first wave of stuff.

Not sure what Paradise Lost is but someone finally came to their senses on Waller. Worst idea they had in the stable.

Series Concept:

-
Setting: Themyscira (Paradise Island), the birthplace and home of the Amazons.
- Plot: Political intrigue, societal conflicts, and power struggles among the all-female population.
- Timeline: Set long before the birth of Wonder Woman.

LOL! Rake my eyes out before I would watch this. We all know how that would go in real life.

I guess everyone at DC acknowledged that as well.

Plus Ritchson has zero charisma and would make a horrible Slade.

He's also giant enough to play Bane. Seems 180 out for what makes sense…in other words just like DC except for Batman

First thought. How is not playing Bane? Confused.

Put me in the camp of all these talks and rumors are all just centered around Gunn trying to ensure his contract gets renewed after Man of Tomorrow comes out….

So I wouldn't buy in to all this too terribly much right now….

Cause if Man of Tomorrow bombs…for example does considerably less than his first Superman film….hes out.

Not sure if this is confirmed but extension talk came out a couple days ago.

Stopped reading when I made it to this:

Quote:

Gunn's extended tenure means he'll continue overseeing a sprawling slate of DC projects spanning film and television. His filmography as co-CEO already includes 'Superman,' 'Peacemaker' Season 2, 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,' and 'Lanterns,' with 'Clayface' and his own directorial effort 'Man of Tomorrow' still ahead on the release calendar.

On the television side, DC Studios under Gunn has developed 'Creature Commandos,' 'Waller,' 'Booster Gold,' a Jimmy Olsen-focused crime series, and a previously unannounced Mister Terrific series with a pilot script from Allan Heinberg. That kind of expansive output has made Gunn one of the more prolific studio leaders in the superhero genre, even as individual projects like 'Supergirl' have drawn mixed results.

Wow…talk about making lemonade….

This writer man….cant take anyone serious after reading that….

What I read and watched about this speculation is that Sneider was simply referring to that earlier extension of his contract into spring of 2027. I listened to a clip of Sneider making his comment and he doesn't actually say a new extension, and the interviewer doesn't stop and ask him to clarify which you would you think he would do if this were a new revelation. People are just assuming Sneider means a new extension and they're running with it. Personally I pray to all that is holy he meant the old extension because Gunn is clearly the wrong person for this job.

Furthermore, some of these shows weren't developed. Weren't they already cancelled before they even made it out of ideation?

Articles hitting the wire today confirming your exact post. On top of that, DC's official twitter account announced that Matt Reeves (The Penguin) is getting an extension....

no no...well, not yet at least.

this is regarding the posts that he had gotten an extension past the contract we already know about that expires in 2027 right around when man of tomorrow comes out....and that the rumored extension past that point was all BS.....

Yeah, I get it. You're right. I just am so apathetic about the direction Gunn seems headed. He had the chancevto steal the superhero spotlight from Marvel while they were down and he squandered it on Supergirl, Creature Commandos, and Gorilla Grodd in College.

Looking back at that post and reading other stuff online, this "news" is simply confirming that Gunn and Saffron aren't expected to be fired immediately or likely not even before their contracts are up. But I believe their contracts are up early next year. I don't think any reasonable person expected Ellison to start making wholesale changes on Day 1. Ellison isn't new to Hollywood and I don't think he's going to drastically change anything. So, Gunn may very well stick around for a long time. But if Man of Tomorrow fails at the box office like Supergirl did or has as lackluster of a showing as Superman did, I still think Gunn has to be worried.

That being said, I agree with TC that they can't reboot the whole DC universe again so soon. Soooo, bring in someone new to pick up what Gunn's created so far and reshape it?

You have to pit him against a villain who can actually defeat him. But for whatever reason, the many filmmakers who have made Superman movies have stuck with Luthor and a couple of instances of General Zod (tbf, Zod is at least an equal to Superman). What you need is Darkseid.

Well, that was next from Snyder before they fired him. Not that his leadup to it was much better aside from Man of Steel which is still the much better Superman movie compared to Gunn's.

A suggestion i've heard online, which i'm really starting to like, is that DC should forget trying to form one coherent universe with their superheroes and instead just make stand-alone live action versions of their top tier storylines like Knightfall, Red Son, or Kingdom Come.

The original theatrical version of Justice League was hot garbage; Zach Snyder's Justice League is the only true version of the film and was very well done. It gave just enough of Darkseid to really tick me off that WB elected to scrap that vision before its completion.
