Looks great and has a very Top Gun Maverick feel. Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Leaning very hard into the nostalgia feel and the hope for a better future mentality. This absolutely feels like Superman.

I like what we saw there, but bleeding Superman? Still, looks good

Yeah but it gave us Krypto for that scene and for that alone it's worth it. Superman with a dog is awesome.
Yes. As much as I thought Krytpo would be stupid, that actually worked very well.

A lot to process in that trailer, but seems to have a good vibe.

I loved the trailer! It made me pretty emotional and I don't know why. Great to have Superman back on the big screen.

I do know if it's anything like the Max' animated show "My Adventures with Superman", it will be a success. That show encapsulates Superman and the relationships he has with this friends, family, and world perfectly!

Guess I'm the only one that thinks it looks like it's going to be terrible.

This looks amazing!! Krypto is going to steal the show in this movie, hands down. Rumor is Supes is fighting Ultraman as the main villain. If we are getting Earth 2 already I am stoked for this universe

Honestly! Man of Steel is up there for me as well, but MAWS just hits a different feel that I truly enjoy watching.

That's what he SHOULD be doing. The little boy raising the Superman flag and praying to him is a very comic book moment as well.

Holy **** they nailed it. THIS is the Superman that people want to see, not dark brooding angsty Supes.

I also got a little emotional during this, we got that inherent feeling of hope that he's supposed to inspire. I absolutely smiled when he whistled for Krypto and there's so many other great little moments like the shot of him shielding the girl and the little boy with the flag. Excited to see some of these other characters introduced as well, I'm totally feeling a bit of Margot Kidder in Lois' attitude and digging Hoult as Luthor.

I was optimistic with Gunn directing this as he's one of my favorites, now I'm flat out stoked. BRB gonna go watch it again.

Agree. One of the biggest gripes against Superman is that he's basically invulnerable and can't be beat. Showing Batman bleeding in the snow at the beginning definitely grabs your attention.

And deepest cut of all time, trouble in the fictional Euro country of Boravia, from Superman #2 in 1939

This is always my biggest gripe about most superhero movies. i want to leave the theater thinking, "I wish that guy was real."

The only time I've felt that way from a DC movie in the past 20 years was during the WWI trench warfare / French town scene in Wonder Woman.

Maybe they'll reference the last time Aggies won a national football championship

I'm a little surprised the trailer didn't include the title or the logo. I can't think of too many movies where you can leave out those pieces and folks know what they're watching.

Yes, a Superman movie should leave you with almost a melancholy feeling of "I'm sad that he doesn't actually exist." Capturing that larger than life feeling is critical to Superman and by extension, the entire DC Trinity with Batman and Wonder Woman. This is one area that sets DC apart from Marvel. You have characters that effectively are modern day versions of mythological gods yet they give everything they have to not just save humanity but push to new heights in a way that maintains their larger than life aura.

People have higher expectations for DC because they expect more from them. They expect the characters to be the archetype they are described to be. Marvel never had this expectation from fans, which allowed it more room to be flexible but DC does and it's been a major aspect WB never really understood. I think Gunn gets it and this trailer showed me they are likely on the right path.

If DC nails the Trinity, everything else will fall in line because the entire universe rises and falls based upon them.

Yes, and the other component for me is probably the most difficult part of it: Show me that Superman can do something that literally seems impossible to me as a movie goer. Not fight another Super powered being, not catch a skyscraper, but something beyond all that.

I reference this 5 times a year, but I need something from on-screen Superman equivalent to Justice League Unlimited Superman when he reveals to Darkseid that he's been pulling his punches because he's always afraid to hurt people by accident, and now he's going to let Darkseid see "just how powerful I really am."

Although that sets a high bar that might make sequels difficult, you should always go with the best ideas first.

In the admittedly brief trailer, I'm getting some All-Star Superman vibes in how they put together Clark Kent and maybe Lex as well. That's not a bad thing.

Can't post a screengrab right now, but the paper Clark is holding at :23 has a headline of "Hammer [something on the other side of the fold] Creates Havoc"

"Hammer sales continue to plummet, creates havoc"?

Superman being every drunk guy whoever locked himself out of his apartment and got the idea to break awindow.

I didn't coin it, but I'll take the blue star: CAN OF STEEL. Looks like some serious ad promo here since evey person has the same blue phone.

Not a gif, but Stagg Industries is run by Simon Stagg. Metamorpho works for him.

Just when you thought Clark Kent had the worst haircut in this movie.

I'll double down. Tis is the most bad ass shot of the trailer.

The Internet says this is "Solaris, the rogue son". One heck of a c8ck block apparently.

No-Ho Metamorpho

That face he's making is going to get memed to death. No idea who this is.

After posting the gifs, I wonder if the shot of Hawkgirl comes right before the Superman punch shot. Unless h'es trapped in a glass cage of emotion, there's no reason he needs to be in there at all.
But if he had his powers blocked or something, different story.

Very prominent sun shining in Hawkgirl's shot, followed by very prominent sun behind Superman shining through a hole in the roof that might have been caused by a Thanagarian mace.

With Clark Kent sporting the broccoli Zoomer haircut, I am
now imagining him using Zoomer/gen alpha slang "It's bussin' bro, you lunar gooners can't handle that skibidi drip," while Superman speaks perfectly articulated and enunciated middle American English.

This thought has me dying.

Hmm, I'm not sure I feel about this yet. Mixed bag for me.

  • Liked the music
  • Still hate the suit
  • GG's haircut is stupid and distracting and I don't care if it's from the comic
  • Hawkgirl looks awesome
  • Skeptical on Krypto but then I immediately was fine with it because...you know...dogs are awesome
  • Agree with others that it doesn't look cinematic at all. It really does look like a CW show.
  • Edit: Clark's hair is lol bad. On one hand, it serves to better disguise him...OTOH, it's f'ing terrible and distracting just like GG's hair. So, the best-looking hair in this so far is Luthor's hair which doesn't exist.
