"We need a guy who will fit in as a native Kansas resident."

"What about this guy named Cornsweat?"

Henry Cavill lost Bond and Superman. (For Returns.)

He'll get his role soon enough. Plus I feel like he's had a pretty successful career thus far.

Great choices. Hopefully they'll have much more chemistry than Cavill/Adams

I've always liked Amy Adams, but she was such a bland Lois, and yeah, had zero chemistry with Cavill.

I have a feeling Corenswet & Brosnahan will knock it out of the park in that regard.

I think Snyder in general has problems understanding normal human relationships.

Perfect gif and my exact response.

Brosnahan was born to play Lane.

But the Superman actor? Maybe he turns out fantastic, but I've already got a taste of "knockoff Cavill" in my mouth, and that's not a good taste.

I'm more interested in how the new guy's Clark Kent is. That IMO was Cavill's biggest weakness, his Kent was pretty blah.

Any chance we can get Abe and Rose Weisman to be Lois' parents in this? He already loves capes.

There's only one young man that can play Jimmy Olsen now...

I've always thought "Happy Days" Ralph Malph would be the perfect Jimmy Olson.

Give me Bill Skarsgard as Lex. Guy just oozes menacing. Nothing against Alexander, he's great, I just fear his Lex would be a little too derivative of his Succession character.
I would imagine if he plays Lex, he would play it nothing like his Succession character. I hope they dont make Lex some neurotic tech guy again, hes supposed to ooze charisma (or my version of Lex does). Which Alexander skarsgard can definitely do.

I've found it impossible to actually find video clips of him in We Own This City, but I did not get "knock off Henry Cavill" vibes from him at all in that.

I think a fun Superman plot, especially for one where he is just starting to exist, would be to have the following

- Clark joins paper
- Clark does a profile on Lex, who is doing good things with his money, they become buds
- Lex has something happen to make him lose faith in humanity and superheros
- Lex breaks bad
- Superman must stop Lex, but the Clark part of him is torn between his duty and his friend

Kinda the Smallville arch between Lex and Clark, but it's good.

Sounds like a fun framework to me

My main request on a Superman movie is that the tension come from Superman needing to save others, and not always being able to. We all know he's indestructible if Kryptonium isn't around, which takes the drama out of most fights. The drama and suspense has to come from "Can he save Louis? Can he save whoever?"

And it's humbling to have him lose someone important to something he can't stop, like losing pa Kent to cancer.

There's just no way Brosnahan doesn't bring out the best in Corenswet. She's so charming that she makes everyone else around her better. As good as Corenswet could be, I think it's Brosnahan who will be the secret weapon, and make this easily the best pairing since Reeve and Kidder.

We said it earlier, but casting a magnetic screen presence for the Lex role should be important as well. I like Jesse Eisenberg in a few roles, but he is not really someone that just demands your attention on screen.

Agreed. I get the tech bro thing they were going for with Eisenberg, but it ultimately just didn't resonate. And heck, as much as I love Hackman, his version was more of a winking joke than anything, while Spacey was more sinister, but still a little goofy as well. I'm not saying this next iteration has to be super serious or anything, but Gunn finally has the opportunity to give us a version of Lex we've never seen on screen before, more in line with the classic, formidable iteration.

And not to keep banging the same drum over and again, but the DC animated universe has shown us how to create that exact Lex you're describing.

I like that storyline...as long as Lex's mother isn't also named Martha.
