Once?

The DCEU will have lasted exactly a decade, from 2013 to 2023. And sure, they tried a few different angles/tones within the universe, but it was always with the same iterations of the same characters, building on the movies/stories that had come before.

This will be the first time that Warner Bros is (basically) wiping the slate clean and starting with a whole new universe. Prior to the DCEU, those were all just individual, closed off DC efforts/franchises, from Tim Burton's Batman through Nolan's, with a few random/separate projects sprinkled among them (Superman Returns, Green Lantern, etc).

I posted those tweets because of the math; the eight years it will have been between theatrical appearances, which I thought it was an interesting point. That, and half the tweets I post are merely meant to be conversation starters. In no way am I painting this guy as some kind of authority.

I tend to agree with this. I know my superhero fatigue has set in pretty hard. I think I'm 3 movies behind on Marvel (maybe more?) at this point.

It sounds like Emma Mackey might have the edge as Lois, but no indication yet as to who's leading the race to play Superman/Clark Kent. There's also mention that a decision could be made on both roles this week. My guess is Gunn is trying to lock down at least the two lead roles before the potential SAG strike, which would begin this Saturday at midnight (and last who knows how long)...

She totally gives off a modern day Kidder vibe. As much as I want Brosnahan in the role, Mackey is great in her own right, obviously looks the part, and has the right energy. I wouldn't be upset if she got it.

Give me Bill Skarsgard as Lex. Guy just oozes menacing. Nothing against Alexander, he's great, I just fear his Lex would be a little too derivative of his Succession character.

I understand the point of the 8 year comment, but to me, it was killed when they brought him back for the Black Adam cameo. I think my exact thought when he walked up was "Oh sh** - he's coming back!!"

I am disappointed Cavill won't have the role going forward but will stay with the movies as long as his replacement and those of the other characters are believable (unlike Pattinson as Batman).

The constant franchise reboots give me tired head though. To me, the continuity of characters was part of why Marvel was so successful, although there are many other reasons for their success vs the DCU.

I keep hearing that Superman: Legacy is going to take a place in a world where superheroes already exist. That's certainly one way to separate this iteration from the past, by using the existence of other superheroes to contrast Superman's uniqueness from the jump. Granted, I have no idea *how* populated with superheroes the world will be at this point. All we know for sure is that he's likely going up against The Authority, who may or not be working for or in tandem with Luthor...
