He just seems like a very enthusiastic fan of cinema, and lets himself get carried away with enthusiasm. Nothing wrong with that, and I prefer it to people just choosing to be negative about everything without seeing it.

Not nearly enough fire/weapons/hysterics to account for all the ridiculous butt hurt, otherwise it's spot on, as I will gladly go down defending the movie's potential. I thought it was okay. I actually liked the music, but am on the record in my agreement that the trailer does a crap job of communicating the plot. For the umpteenth time... I simply thought the reaction to the trailer was ridiculous, comical, and way, way over-the-top. IMO, mild annoyance while keeping an open mind would have been more appropriate. Not the "OMG this is the worst piece of **** ever!!! This movie is going to suck!!! Fire everyone!!!" reactions we got instead. Especially considering the legitimately great buzz that continues to build for the movie itself, from those who have seen it.

I'm not taking this personally at all.

I simply find this board, for whatever reason, to have a predisposition to harshly and hysterically judging things before they come out, based on either the most inconsequential factors, posters' own biases, or simply the need to b*tch and moan on the internet.

Again, based on the trailer, I absolutely get being wary about the movie itself, and I'm not saying concerns here aren't valid or genuine.

But this is like (I won't say "umpteenth," for Bruce Almighty's sake) the 400th thread where people absolutely lose their minds over something, without first giving the final product a chance, when so often that thing ends up being good, or didn't do the thing they were sure it was going to do, etc.

I've seen this happen on this board more times than I can count.

In other words, I'm not, like, some super passionate Gladiator II defender. Rather, this is simply the latest example of what feels like an epidemic on this board, one I'm merely using this movie as a means to push back on.

This trailer played in front of my viewing of Deadpool and Wolverine last night. While I am largely meh on this trailer and even the idea of a Gladiator sequel, it did spur me to a Gladiator rewatch today. Gladiator is one of those few near perfect movies that really doesn't need a sequel.

I actually was meh when I saw the original on opening day in 2000, but every time I have watched it since, Gladiator has proven itself to be far better than I originally considered it to be.
