I need a data analyst to plot TC's approximate drop in productivity over the past 24 hours while goaltending this trailer.

I'm getting all kinds of sh*t done.

In fact, between arguments yesterday we had an incredibly productive zoom with the production company of one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and we're now officially making a TV show together.

Otherwise, I'm currently building a pitch deck for a movie we're developing with a big writer/producer, his movies/shows damn near everyone here has seen.

I'm ****ing killing it right now.

Taking a break every half hour or so on average to quickly respond is nothing. Plus, again... it's damn fun.

Imagine going on a 1st date with TC and expressing a view he differs with and he digs into his coat pocket and pulls out three printed posts from X that verbalize his rebuttal.

If you can't tell that those tweets were clearly meant to be dumb jokes, I don't know what to tell you.

The back and forth about a trailer is FASCINATING!

I think this looks good. Will I like it as much as Gladiator? Probably not. But I'm also not 14 anymore, so I don't know that its fair to judge any movie by the experience of watching that movie in theaters.

If you don't think it looks good, thats cool, don't go see it I guess. And maybe its a money grab, but Ridley Scott has been trying to, or at least thinking about, making this movie for over a decade. I think he wanted to make the movie. He definitely doesn't need to make this particular movie. So if you like the first one, then at least give the filmmaker the benefit of the doubt on the sequel.

I may be crazy, but I seem to remember that at least one of the Gladiator (2000) trailers was set to Bawitdaba.

It was a Super Bowl spot comparing gladiators to football. Entirely different scenario but Romans would have loved football so it's not that bad. With that said, a trailer with just the movie and Kid Rock was bad. I can't find it online though, but the YouTube comments mention it did exist so I don't know.

Rewatching the trailer at one point Lucilla, with all of Maximus' kit on the wall, portentously bequeaths Maximus' ring.

What the heck lady, is it an Elvish ring of power? Give me the sword already.

Question about the trailer... the main character is Lucius. So what's up with the part of the trailer where Denzel asks "where were you born" and he responds with "I don't know".

Did I hear the question wrong or what?

Scroll down to my post where I breakdown what we can glean of the plot. I included a Vanity Fair excerpt that explains a bit of this...

Your average break between posts is nowhere near every half hour. Don't lie, it's ok. We know you can't put the phone down. We accept it, so should you.

Okay.

If you clump responses together, it certainly averages out.

Also, I'm on my desktop, getting work done simultaneously, not my phone. I'm not that insane.

OK thanks.

That makes sense and probably plays out well in the movie... assuming she sent him off to protect him after the fallout of his dead emperor uncle... and, like Maximus, he conceals his identity until the time is right.

But I don't think the dialogue played out very well in a trailer. Was very confusing... seemed clear that they were telling us "this is Lucius grown up"... but then that scene seems to contradict it.

But I like the overall idea... has the potential to be a very worthy sequel!

Agreed. It wasn't communicated well in the trailer at all, especially considering they had to recast the Lucius actor from the first movie in order to show extended flashbacks of him in this movie. That said, yeah, I think it'll work well in movie, and makes sense, it just doesn't translate well to the marketing.

It's all clear to me now… the only question is how much creative control Ridley gave TCTTS on this project!?!
jr15aggie
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Yep!

I had to look up the movie info to make sure that character was Lucius because that part confused me so much.

The main theme of the trailer was clear otherwise: Lucius is all grown up and, like Maximus, finds himself a slave fighting in the arena. I just couldn't connect the dots after 1 viewing of the trailer... and that's not what you want from a trailer.

None of those stats disprove anything I've said.

The trailer has now been viewed well over 13 million times via that embed.

While only 2% of those viewers bothered to even give it a thumbs up/down.

The same weirdos who review bomb crap like The Acolyte always come out of the woodwork for stuff like this. That's not to say that the majority of those thumbs down aren't genuine - I have no doubt that they are - but the trailer has also turned into a lightning rod for the chronically online, super-anti-woke crowd, and this has now become a whole, dumbass virtue signaling thing to be up in arms about.

I don't know about you, but I've never voted for a single YouTube video in my life. And well over 12 million who viewed this particular video didn't vote either, leaving plenty of room for people who did love it, as I'm still seeing expressed constantly online.

I went out of my way to phrase that sentence the way I did, to make it clear that MOST negative opinions of the trailer/music are genuine, and are from people who simply wanted to hear the old Gladiator score.

That said, a whole thing has also emerged online, from politically obsessed types, using the trailer to ***** and moan, virtue signal, etc. I mean, in this very thread, "Nanomachines son" said just yesterday that "People expect the movie will be bad and full of modern political themes as a result of the music choice." Which is both objectively insane, but also the type of opinion that is now all over social media from the right. And all I'm saying is that, in the same way morons started review bombing The Acolyte, there's a similar contingent now "thumbs down bombing" the trailer.

I'm literally just reporting what's happening.

People here keep essentially saying, "No one likes it! Look at all these people who hate it!"

And I'm simply saying in return, "Okay, sure, but a chunk of those are somewhat inflated because of [X]," which brings that number down just a bit, closer to a 50/50 split.

Seriously?

Genuine question... do you just not read the whole post? Are you quickly scanning them? Or... is it that you're illiterate, and are having some kind of assistant/program dictate your responses?

Because I could not have been more clear…
