I am not enjoying the second season as much as the first.

Not sure why.

For one, Helly has just about disappeared, and I like her.

I enjoyed the interaction of the four MDR folks and their discoveries. That interaction has disappeared.

My interest is just way down.

I think following up on S1 was always going to be a tall order. That's one of the best season of tv ever. Still very much enjoying S2.

Speaking of Helly, her walk is so distracting. It's so masculine, clumsy, deliberate and not elegant. Not even sure how to describe it other than it's actually hard to watch somehow.

They obviously did that on purpose to contrast Helena's walk which is much more normal and smooth.

This kind of detail is just wild. Makes me wonder how much stuff we miss.

Agreed. I caught a couple things on the rewatch of season 1 with the wife.

I agree the interactions with the MDR folks were fun, but to progress the plot they really had to expand the story beyond the four of them snooping around the severed floor and plotting together.

Ive been reserving judgment to see if the finale's payoff makes it worth it. But up until now, I think I agree with you. I liked the weirdness of the Lumon office the most in S1 and this season has had very little of that.

Yes, I get that they needed to move on to progress the story. And no, I'm not saying I dislike this season (quite the opposite actually). But up until this point, I think I've enjoyed S1 more than S2

ScreenCrush E9 explainer video says they will have a cast member on for the S10 breakdown video.

Maybe I'm not remembering S1 all that well, but does anyone else feel like S2 is more dark? Seems like season 1 was more light hearted innies not knowing how screwed up everything was and now season 2 is more messy. Not that I hate it, just feels like there's been a big tone shift in the seasons.

i think season one was more ambiguous because you weren't really sure what was going on.

I would tend to agree, but I think for the most part it makes sense. The subject matter has turned quite a bit darker as well and I think it gets harder to go back and forth to the same degree as they did previously. The cumulative effect of what we now know about Lumon is weighing heavily; the more we know the darker, more sinister and maybe downright evil it gets. We need some resolution to move the story to the next act and maybe there's more room and appropriate space for more comedy in season 3.

S1 was great, but they really stuck the landing.

My opinion, S2 has been on par with S1 so far, but it'll need a heck of a finale to be remembered as favorably as S1.

S1 Finale and S2 EP7 Chikhai Bardo are without question my two favorite episodes. Really hopeful next week delivers as well.

The problem I have with the outer world is that everyone's Outie is considerably less interesting than their Innie. My favorite characters are Innie Dylan, Innie Irving, and Milchick. I think we've gotten a lot more Milchick this season, which has definitely been the highlight, but we've had virtually no Dylan and Irving scenes. Mark just doesn't interest me. The reintegration was interesting at first, but for the past several weeks, the reintegration story has dragged. I definitely think it was a mistake to have back to back (Gemma's episodes then Cobel) episodes where the main four characters were barely in it. It has definitely made it seem like the show is dragging more. I think if they did the Cobel episode in like episode 2, and then the Gemma episode in episode 7, it would have had a better flow.
