I had the same thought myself. Seemed like a plot convenient thing for her to pop up, so I just went with it.
What took me out was Eminence Front over the final scene. As a Mavs fan, I kept waiting for Diiiiiiiiiiirrkkkk Nowitzki to show up while the song played.
I think you're probably right, seeing as I just watched two episode recaps and neither even addressed it, much less had an explanation for it. The only insight I gathered is that it's been just a few days since Mark last saw her, while it feels like forever for us. So she's likely still keeping tabs on him, and waited until he was away from home/completely alone before she approached him again.

The theory I have seen that I currently ascribe to is that Gemma was brain dead or in a coma when lemon medical found her. They found a way to basically sever her and create a new persona but she is much weaker and thus spends more time asleep.
We see a car in a lake in the intro and instead of her brining her car crashed in a lake, or a Cold Harbor. What mark is doing is rebuilding Gemma's consciousness and this is a precursor to revive Kier in a new body somehow

I was basically watching it for the first time in my rewatch.
Yeah we were going to just watch the last episode again to try and get us ready for S2. Decided to do the whole season and highly recommend doing it. I remembered a decent amount, my wife remembered next to nothing.

Season 1 focused more on the innies, where season 2 has been focused more on the outties, at least so far.
